Can I relocate catalogued pictures on my hard drive?
I started out using Capture One fairly naively. I imported pictures directly from the camera, and sometimes from other adhoc folders I used as a sort of "holding queue" before I do something with the pictures, then move them into the repository.
Now I realize I can do that sort of queue-like organization very easily in the catalog, but my current pictures are a bit of a mess on the drive. They're mostly just in separate sessions in Capture One. I can start to organize them in the catalog, but I'd like to first put them in somewhat reasonable permanent homes on my drive. And when that drive fills up, can I move them again onto an external drive? I'd rather not re-add them to the catalog, as many of the images have a lot of work done to them.

You can change the location of images or folders of images after you have imported them into the CO8 catalog.
There are basically two methods:
- you move them within CO8, from the Library tool, Folders section
- you move them outside CO8, from Finder for example, and relocate the images from the Library tool, Folders section0 -
Aha. I was worrying I'd have to individually locate each moved image, but I don't. I instead moved them back to where Capture One was expecting them to be, and then I did the move again, this time from within the Folders section of Capture One's Library tab. 0 -
I am still stuck. I imported my pictures onto the wrong disk and I want to move them along with the edits to the right disk. When I select the folder in the Folder section and try to drag it to the right disk, nothing on the target disk highlights and I can't seem to drag the source folder to my preferred destination.
Plus, not all the folders on the destination disk are showing up.
What am I missing?0 -

You can not move folders from the Library > Folders section. You can add a folder and move images to that folder.
Maybe this also helps: http://imagealchemist.net/catalogs-in-depth-part-2/0
