Using Set Highlight/Shadow

I've been using a grey card target with grey, white, and black targets and want to learn how to use the Set Highlight/Shadow droppers on the exposure tab of CO.

One would guess that it's done the same as the white balance with the grey target, but I'm getting results that seem to be way off and it can really do a number on the levels.

I've searched but haven't found any useful information.

Does anyone know how to use these droppers or have links to instructions or guides?
