TETHERED NOT WORKING WITH CANON EOS AND LATEST SOFTWARE

News !..Get the latest 10.4.7 update from Apple and tethered capture is now possible with all Canon camera's with 3.7.4 on Intel Mac's.
NOT SO! I have 10.4.7 and 3.7.4 on an Intel Imac Core Duo with 2GB memory. I can connect with my Canon 1Ds (Mark 1), and get the camera to initiate a capture, but I get an error along the lines of "failed capture error fffddd". Actually you can see the progress bar after the camera shutter is released, and all appears to be going well until the very end when the error message appears. And this is with Firewire.
I tried this because I was thinking of buying a Macbook 13", but now I'm afraid since it won't work on my Intel Imac. But everything is well with 3.7.3 on a Powerbook G4 12". What to do?

Chris,
This error happens if Capture One is unable to write the captured image to disk. This is most likely because there is no Session Capture folder selected. It could also be because you do not have write access permission to the currently selected destination.

Thanks Keith. Yes, my session capture folder was somehow corrupted. By starting a new session, then worked like a charm. Today I'm purchasing a Macbook, and looking forward to the faster tethered speeds that I was able to get on my Intel iMac. 0 -

download the correct version of the ppc IOUSBFamily.kext, which for my powerbook g4 is the one from 10.4.6
Mac OS X 10.4.6 8I127 IOUSBFamily.kext 2.2.8 for PPC System Update for PPC based systems v 228.4.0
This downloads a package installer and it replaces your 10.4.7 usb controller file with the 4.0 version which does work. Just to be safe I made a backup of the file first, it's in your system/library/extensions folder
I did this successfully and it worked right away.
This way you don't have to worry about permissions and such, as it works just like any other apple updater software.
good luck to all you Canon USB users.
