EIP file support - C1 Pro 7.0.2 trial, P21+ IIQ files
Hi folks,
I'm shooting with a P21+ and capturing to large IIQ image format. When I try to use the EIP format in C1 Pro the following occurs when using a catalog:
- If I set "pack as EIP when importing" the EIP files are created, but the catalog is empty (0 files imported).
- I cannot get C1 to even recognize the EIP files that were just created - they aren't found if I try importing them. The files are not corrupt though, and can be unzipped OK.
- IIQ files import and behave normally if I leave 'pack as EIP when importing' deselected in Preferences.
- The 'pack as EIP' and 'unpack as EIP' in the File menu are grayed out, whether I select one of the imported IIQ files or not.
Sessions work fine.
I thought one of the benefits of EIP was that all the adjustments were contained in the zipped file - as it stands I can't use this option. So I fear that if my C1 database is corrupted or lost all my adjustments, variants, etc., will be gone forever. And I'd rather have one catalog (like Lightroom) where I can organize and catalog my images.
Does anyone know whether this is a limitation of the trial version of the software? I'm using the 60 day trial to see if I want to invest the time and money in this application - so far I'm not sure I do.

Use EIP with sessions only. A catalog can import existing EIP files, but it will unpack them.
The preference setting to pack on import should be avoided when using catalogs. The program should handle this gracefully, apparently it does not.0 -

Thank you Paul. Catalogs do not support EIP at all in my experience, including import.

Hi Aaron,
Looked into the Catalog - EIP combination. I did not came across the issues you reported.
Importing EIP, both in current location as well as inside catalog, are handled correctly with a message reminding that EIP will be unpacked.
The preference setting to pack to EIP on import is not interfering when importing to a catalog.
