Big Shoot - Nothing there !!! HELP Ulf ! :(
Just finished a half day shoot - 5 x 1Gb CF cards used in rotation, 500 images. 19mb Nef files.
Copied all the files to the mac with the card reader and about half there is just nothing. Well other than a cold sweat and heart rate increase.
Any help ? Any ideas ? WTF is going on ???
Never had this before, latest OSX, Latest C1 version. Nikon DX2.
--
All I can think of is either some form of screwey thing is going on with C1, failing that - corruption has crept in selectively nailing half of some of the cards on SOME of the rotations... not all and not everytime...
More urgent than the most urgent thing...

Would spotlight help you find the capture names or session? 0 -
Its not about that mate.
Create new session, and jack squat data in folders - there are of course files there... just C1 can't seem to interpret the files. [i create a folder for each card session].
Appreciate your assistance however.

Would data recovery on the cards get anything, assuming the cards are showing full.
Sorry, I'm now sweating for you.
Take care...0 -
Ummm... i mentioned used on rotation. Meaning shoot, fill it, empty it, insert the next full card into the camera, ***hit format*** to empty it... shoot... 0 -
Hi There,
Been there--experienced that-cold sweat /etc!-- C1 has some quirky things that just happen--sessions-- I avoid myself and go the tried and true Folders old fashioned way,but I'd suggest just recover the files --get this program Rescue Pro--It's fast and has found lost (?) files for me in C1, no problem-- there is a NZ help # if you get stuck.
You can nominate/where to look/etc HD/Reader.
It is the best I've tried--just watch where the Recovered files go to--in Mac to user/Documents/Recovered folder which it makes--you will have to rename as it erases your Camera naming /etc.
Get you present files at least --then worry about the cause /solving/etc.
Best,
Des W

Cheers for that - will it still recover files after the camera has reformatted the CF ?
I think from tracing the workflow that we did that SOME of the CF cards may have just been pulled out... that might be a NO NO. As the \"card mounted\" data folder sits there on the desk top until the Mac figures out its gone. You put in a new CF card and it can get screwed up and possibly write data to the new CF thinking it was the old one ? Not sure... but sounds plausable. Not sure how that would do that to loads of images in a second though corrupting loads of them.
At present we can read alot of the files with Graphic convertor... and we have just backed them all up so at least we are not working on the only version of the images.
Cheers for any more ideas.

Just found this...

We won't be actually doing this... but it does lend some ideas to the CF corrupto thing.

My suggestion would also be Rescue Pro as well.
The case is that normally a format in the camera wipes the FAT table so the computer or camer thinks that the card is empy and by that writes to the clusters that are available.
However a program like Rescue Pro will search through out the card and by that be able to recover the card as long has you have not shot new images so the clusters have been over-written.0 -
I know you stated that you are using the latest version of C1 but the latest versions are now called Capture One Pro. If you've installed later versions but left previous versions of C1Pro around, the icon in your desktop might point to the older version. C1Pro cannot read D2X files, so even though your images are there, C1Pro will show the session as being empty.
Sincerely,
Alan Balian0
