Migrating to new computer

I'm setting up a new laptop, and would appreciate a sanity check on moving my catalog and also my preferences (i.e., tool bar settings) over to the new installation of CO8.

  I have no experience moving toolbar preferences but found that moving a catalog is seamless if you have the same home directory, and the same directory structure for referenced images on both machines. In that case C1 finds all the images without confusion.
  
  You should just be able to open the catalog, I would avoid importing the catalog as the import process seems to be tricky for large catalogs.
  
  If the home directory is changed, you have to locate all the image files (i.e. tell C1 where the image files for all of it thumbnails are), which is a little trouble if you have a lot of images but manageable.
  
  I would suspect that if you home directory name is the same you might be able to copy C1's plist files for your user ID (~/Library/Preferences/com.phaseone.captureone8.plist) and get your preferences moved over.
  
  Once moved, you should remember to deactivate C1 on your old machine if you intend to dispose of it.
