Importing LR catalogue
Hi. I installed C1 on a drive labelled E and am in the process right now of importing a large LR catalogue of about 18000 images. Thing is, I notice my space on my main C drive going down as this import catalogue command progresses. Why is this? Is the imported catalogue being stored on my C system drive even though C1 is installed on my E drive? Can I change this behaviour?

By default, the catalog is stored in the Pictures folder of the user. This folder is part of the user profile. Check where your catalog is stored.
The location of the installed the program is irrelevant for where the catalog is stored.0 -
So the million dollar question is - can you change where the catalogue is stored because I can't seem to find a setting?
Also, if the only way to do it is manually move it in explorer, will I have to generate all my previews again? It's taken over 5 hours to generate them !0 -
Hi,
All I did was move the "Capture One Catalog" (default name) directory (assuming you just used the default settings) from the "C:\Users\<user name>\Pictures" directory to the "C:" directory, for performance reasons, and it seemed to move all the previews etc.
If you create a new catalog the dialog defaults to Pictures\Capture One Catalog but you can create it anywhere.
I never bothered but you could ask Tech Support and I am sure they can tell you if it is safe to move or not.0 -
Yes, it is safe to move the catalog folder. The previews in inside the folder. And if your images are referenced, the links or references still apply as the original images are not moved. 0
