Multiple Viewer not working

Sorry if this has been covered but multiple viewer doesn't seem to work at all. I can only view one image at a time despite selecting the multiple icon and selecting several images. I'm using 4.8.1

  Try this when selected a view images in the Browser: toggle between Multi View and Primary View from either the icon in the top left corner of the Viewer window and the option in View menu, Viewer Mode.
