Relinking image and .cos files
I recently (today) had to initialize my drive thanks to an adware/Safari problem, and am in the process of reinstalling everything. I've reinstalled Capture One and moved the session files across from the backup via the FInder. In some sessions, the edits are no longer displayed in the images (in others they are.) The Selects folder contains the usual image folders and the Capture One folder containing the Cache and Settings120 folders with all files contained in them. At least from that perspective everything looks to be in order.
Is there some way to reconnect these files so that the edits once again show up? I'm pretty well brand new to Capture One having recently migrated from a 10 year relationship with Lightroom.
Thanks!
Chris

Further to my previous post, it looks like Capture One 12.1.1 is overwriting cache and settings120 files as I open a cosessiondb file, so that none of the edits are retained, for any of the sessions I've brought across. I'd originally thought some were intact. Wrong-o. If I do an edit now, it seems to be retained, but I'm wondering if this is going to be reliable.
When I rebuilt the hard drive as mentioned in my previous post I moved all the folders across in the Finder. I have backups of all of them (thankfully) and it appears the original files are all intact there. Am I missing something here? Is there a different way I should be moving these files?
Thankfully none of this so far is major client work, and the finals have been delivered to the client.0 -
Hi Chris,
Not sure how closely my instances of disappearing edits relate to yours (I was moving images and their edits across sessions), but I raised a support case with Phase One Support and was told:
"This does indeed sound like a bug that we're working on a fix for. I don't have a definite timeline for the release, but in the meantime I'd suggest sticking strictly to one session looking at the images of a particular folder."
May be totally unrelated issues, but there is a bug that can eat edits.
I managed to get done what I needed by deleting the sessions, copying across back-ups using Finder, and trying the moves again. Perhaps a repeat copy of your back-up will work for you.
I too have found that any further edits have been retained without issue.

Hi Michael
Thanks for your reply. I've tried several times as well with the same result unfortunately. It may be back to Lightroom for me until this gets resolved as I can't run the risk. I saw before that you'd raised a ticket with them, and I did as well, last night.
Cheers

I didn't see anything specific for the fix in the release notes for 12.1.2, released today, but at first glimpse it looks like it may have resolved the lost adjustment issue. Going to watch the files closely over the next couple of days and application openings, but so far so good on the several sessions I've restored. 0
