Leica M10 support
Wow. I just got the new Leica M10 and to my surprise the files come right in to C1 and look good. Not sure why that is as in the past I have had to wait months for 240, Q and SL support. I'm running 9.2 still as it seems like I should wait to upgrade until all the problems are fixed. There are a few issues, the biggest is that when importing it does not show any previews for the shots you're importing so its hard to be selective. I wonder if that is because I'm still on 9.2. When importing I select "include existing adjustments." Not sure if this is doing anything. In the color profiles I use the Generic DNG file neutral. In the past this has not worked very well but with the M10 it seems fine. I compared to the profiles for the 240, SL and Q and they are not as good. I imagine at some point C1 will officially support the M10 but in the meantime these files as they are still appear better than the results from Lightroom.

The magic of DNG.
I don't know how complete Capture One's DNG support is, but I have found that the generic DNG profile works fine for the 240 and the 262 as well. What I suspect Capture One is doing is tapping into the color profile supplied by Leica and embedded into your M10's DNGs. Anyway, the colors seem identical. Even in Lightroom, I prefer to use the embedded profile for Leica cameras, though most people seem to prefer the Adobe and/or Phase One profiles.
Anyway, Lightroom will let you use the embedded profile too, so if you prefer those colors, look for "embedded" in the Profile popup menu in Lightroom's Camera Calibration panel.0 -
Any sense of when C1 will officially support the M10? I'm hoping that since its already pretty good that the C1 profile will be really great.
Also - to those of you using ver 10 is it safe to upgrade or am I better off sticking with 9. Read so many horror stories but can't tell if that is the majority or minority.0 -
I have been requesting Capture One support the Leica MD 262 and Monochrom 246 for a while now. Capture One told me I needed to chase Leica as they were not supplying cameras etc quick enough. I did chase Leica and received this reply from Jesko.
"Your mail caused us to revise the capture one support of Leica cameras together with Phase One. We have started the dialogue to include more models, and I expect to see the integration of M (Typ 262) and M (Typ 246) pretty soon."
I received the reply above from Leica on January 4 2017, just before the M10 was launched.
I would have thought if they are going to support more models, one would expect the M10 to be supported very soon too.0 -
Thanks !! Great news !! 0 -
On that note, how are you guys finding lens correction on CO10 for Leica? I know Leica lenses do not need much correction, maybe not at all but still there is only 1 lens supported for Leica M cameras 0 -
Frankly speaking, I don't think Leica lenses need any correction, except for some wide angle lenses. I have a 35 mm ASPH, and this lens behaves quite well and doesn't need any specific correction. My 2 other lenses are 50 and 90, so.... 0 -

How do you feel with that combo? I'm planning to move to M system as well but not quite sure which lenses should I get, I guess I'll start with 35 but then I don't know...0 -
No need to wait around for Leica M10 support. The DNGs come in just fine using DNG File Neutral and look good.
C1 doesn’t have any profiles for Leica lenses other than the 50 Summicron, but in my experience it, and others, aren’t necessary anyway.
As for which lens to get, the 50 and 35 Summicrons are fantastic and work the best with the M10’s viewfinder frame lines. 35 being the most natural fit.
Unfortunately, I have found Capture One Pro 10 to be terribly buggy and slow, to the point that I can’t really use it for anything other than opening and marveling about what could have been.
So I’m back in Lightroom 5.x where things work and with reasonable speed.0 -

Hi,
I use most of the time my 50mm Summilux, which is wonderful, and my 35mm Summicron (version IV). Very scarcely my 90mm APO.
The 35mm focal length is more adapted to cities, street photography, and landscapes. It is maybe more flexible for most of the situations. It is the focal length most of Leica owners use.
But I would say that the 50 Summilux is my loved one, and if I had to keep only one, it would be it.
But this discussion is out of scope here.....
I don't have any trouble with C1 v10, and the images I get from my M240 Leica are very good, as far as the rendering and the colours are concerned. The artistic quality is an other story 😂0 -
Let me just chime in to say that the 35 Summilux FLE has the same qualities as the 50 Summilux — they’re brilliant lenses. I like them both a lot more than the 35 Summicron which was a bit too compact and fiddly for my tastes, harder to focus, and a bit less perfect in the corners. But what do I know? The 35 Summicron is Leica’s best-selling lens, so I’m clearly picking nits. Also, the 35 Summilux is scary expensive. I had to trade my M9 and my 35 Summicron for it, and still owed $500! Ouch. 0 -
As a long time Leica owner and loyal capture one pro user, I hope capture one will get a dedicated and optimised profile for the M10. I would hate to utilise the Lightroom voucher which came with the M10. 0 -

The Adobe DNG neutral provided by Phase One is already pretty good (what is sure anyway is that nothing is better than a personal profile for your camera body).
Even Lightroom has not yet introduced the profile for the M10. Or some could think that the "Adobe" profile you find in Lightroom is the one ? It is more likely just the Adobe generic, i.e. almost the same (Adobe DNG neutral) as the one used by some Capture One customers.
When a new camera body comes into the market, it could take some time to be considered by the software publishers.0 -

The Adobe Standard provided in Lr for the M10 is specific for the camera which is fully supported according to the official statement published by Adobe few days back. In addition to that Lr has now introduced for the M10 files a default luminance noise removal variable with the ISO setting (never seen before). I think there is enough to believe that the support is specific.
I do hope the CO, which is by far my preferred raw converter, will follow soonest.0 -

You are perfectly right. I would be a pity to loose capture one especially as I supported the software through my upgrades from the very beginning.0 -

You are perfectly right !! The Leica M10 is supported by Lightroom, as mentioned in the list provided for Adobe Camera Raw.... in English !! On the French website, ACR doesn't support the M10 yet 😊
As far as luminance noise is concerned, C1 applies a defect noise reduction which depends upon the camera body and the ISO sensitivity. The cursor value is the same for all ISO sensitivities, but the noise reduction is not the same.0 -
Any updates on when the M10 will be officially supported...?... 0 -
John, the developers won't comment on this issue but I suggest you fill a support form to request the support. If you have filled it, that'd should be fine. I personally filled as well and I know few people from Leica Forum has filled as well. I am guessing with the new official release we might see it, if not the one after that. 0 -
Very frustrating to see that there is still no support for the M10 with COPlus10.1 ☹️ 0 -
Hi,
Ive emailed Leica Software support about this and they have told me that Leica Product team will get in touch with Phase One for this.
Maybe you might want to email as well, the more email, the faster the process 😊
Cheers,

Hi all,
So I'm pushing CO and Leica as much as I can, but as we can see there isnt any update yet. So I am kindly asking for your help, to those who uses CO to process their images, to contact with CO support and Leica for the update.
Many thanks,
Fatih0 -
C'mon PO, it has been 7-8 months already, whereas the support for M10? 0
