'New Collection'
What does this mean? I used to go to the folder tree, right click, make a new folder, name it.
Now you've changed the workflow. I right click on a folder, select 'New Inside <Folder Name>' then a drop down appears up the top of the screen called 'New Collection Name:'
What is a 'collection'? I want to make a new folder, not a collection. A folder. Why do you keep changing things? Stop changing things. Fix the software, stop it crashing, that would be a change I would be okay with. Oh, and stop using Smilies; this is supposed to be a professional forum.

Also,
What happened to selecting by rating, tags etc via the menu bar?
Used to be Edit/Select By Rating, which I had shortcut as cmd 1,2 etc. So I have to hunt down the 'Filters' tool. More wasted time. Sick of it.

Jonathan,
I'll reference you to the Express Manual in the link below. The Session workflow has been replaced by a Catalog workflow to provide you with the ability to work on larger collections of images a bit faster as well as as keep the settings local to the catalog and not dispersed on the system.

Yes, some things have changed in the Express workflow but we think for the better. The catalog workflow allows you to import images from many different sources and use them in one organized system. The ability to create a new folder is now an organizational method within the catalog as appose to a Physical Folder on your computer.
Unfortunately some tools are no longer a part of the Express version as mentioned in the other thread linked below. The Keyboard shortcut you mentioned is one that is no longer a part of Capture One 7 as it has been replaced by the Filters tool but we've received plenty of requests to bring it back so we hope to do so in the future.

Sorry about the smilies, this is a professional forum but even us professionals like to keep things light some times.0 -
Hello,
Not sure what 'Express' software is, I'm referring to Capture One Pro v7.0.2, ditto 'catalog workflow', we don't use a catalog. However I certainly get that you think things have changed for the better.

Jonathan,
I apologize, as you stated that we "changed the workflow" I had assumed you were using the Express version that only allow the use of Catalogs as appose to Sessions which would be a big change. In Capture One PRO this is completely optional so if you choose you can use a Session in Capture One 7 as you have been used to using with Capture One 6 Pro (File>New Session).
If you have further questions about the optional catalog workflow please reference the tutorials.

Maybe the change (New Collection) changed again in 7.1, because when working with sessions, I get the same dialog as in CO6:
Right-click a folder > New Inside "folder name" > Folder.0 -
Hello Drew,
I'm referring to the change in the way a new folder is created within the folder tree in the LIBRARY tab.
And so around that I was having a whine about the habit of Phase One tinkering with the way the software works and introducing uncertainty, specifically;
What is a 'collection'? The change from v6 to v7 is the contextual menu (it now offers 'New Inside<foldername>/Album or Smart Album or Folder, selecting Folder brings up the other new thing; a drop-down at the top of the session window with the words 'New collection name'. It makes me nervous when my command to the software was to create a new folder.
Where is the Select by rating' command? I know, it's gone, along with my keyboard shortcut. I understand that it has been replaced with filters, I care that it just disappears without mention in the v7 or v7.0.1 release notes and I have to waste time figuring this stuff out.
So there's that, against a background of not addressing the crash issues, instead some of your companies' responses to complaints about crashing seem to offer variations on the statement "well it works on my machine".
