There seems to be a bit of confusion here.
Many users are entering their Email Address and Password in the fields for the new download where it simply asks you to enter your email address, and then verify the same email address.
This has been changed so that individuals that would like to try our software don't need to Log in or Create and account, just enter you email address on the download page, verify it and select your country. You can then proceed with the download, no password required.

So for those who want to try the software we should make it a PITA for current users?

I even need to enter the info when I select update from within my current version of C1, lame.

What info? You're simply logging in with your e-mail address and verifying it. After downloading, there's no reentry of any info...including registration numbers as there is with 95% of the software out there....it's a little tougher than Adobe, but not as much a challenge as looking up old registration numbers...

I haven't had to do this from within C1 ever that I can recall so it is a PITA and a step backwards in customer service. I have been using P1 hardware and software for years and find the additional hurdle to be lame.

You may not to each his own.

You have always had to enter your ID/or email/ and password since online updates were available (unless you were downloading from a third party vendor or some system I don't know of).... And then choose your server.....IMHO no step backwards since entering an email /choosing a server in one step...

Yep - always, as far as I can remember (which goes back to Cap One 3).

I assume that Jeff's browser was simply remembering his details and auto-populating the user ID/password fields.

No the old website would keep me logged in and I could just hit the download button.

That was your browser at work, Jeff - when you clicked "remember me" (or whatever) on the website, the browser saved a cookie to your computer telling the site to recognise you whenever you visited.

Ok one more try, This morning I happened upon another path into the download area and did log in and yes there was a remember me radio button so we will see when I return for the next update. My point remains though why doesn't a click from within an already functioning copy of C1 lead the user to the page where we can log in once for subsequent updates?

Yes my browser saved the cookie but it came from the p1 website and is designed to be recognized by that website. So your insistence that the browser is "doing the work" is silly.

Thanks for the feedback on this.
Since this thread we've edited the site so if you are logged into your account you do not need to again enter your information for the download.
