Yes, that's the resolution of many 12inch laptops, you know, the ones many photographers use when on the road.
Why on earth would a program be designed so that people using this resolution of screen can't use the curves control as it sits halfway off the bottom of the screen, and isn't scrollable?
It's beyond me.
This and the appalling noise reduction make this program a no-go for me.

I feel your pain. My 12.1" lappie (HP Compaq B1959TU) is 1280x800 and that's getting pretty standard... my 10.6" Fujitsu is 1280x768 which means it just misses-out. Not sure why 800 is becoming standard; traditionally it is 768 and I too find it odd that P1 chose 800, as that extra 32 rows rules out a lot of hardware that people still use. I just don't understand why they'd choose to use an extra 32 rows of pixels at the expense of excluding a lot of users, it's a trade-off that makes no sense to me, and I gave them this feedback for each beta release.
About 3 years ago I did a photographic workshop with Michael Reichmann and 2/3 of us had the same laptop (Fujitsu P5020), and I was using mine until about 6 months ago. It'd still be my choice on the road, I don't think my HP fits in my Lowepro NatureTrecker AW bag. So it comes down to the Fujitsu or C1v4, not both - what a choice eh.
I think the curves tool is the main restriction, and I'm assuming it's 256x256 pixels and for technical reasons you'd probably want to keep it that size (computers work well with powers of two), but maybe they can save the space elsewhere, or have the ability to collapse the separate parts of a toolbox or something.
Some graphics drivers allow (eg) to view 1280x1024 on a 1024x768 screen, and your "window" into that larger image moves around as your mouse touches the edges. Would probably be workable for 32 pixels. I'm wondering if there's such a Windows tool that does it? And if so, critically, does it support colour management?
To be constructive, all I can suggest is raise a feature request with P1's support area, and in the meantime keep using v3.7 if it supports your current camera.0 -
My 17" desktop is at 1024x768 as well. I changed it to 1280x1024, but the icons & Windows dialog boxes are just too tiny to work like that all the time and I don't think I should have to switch resolution to run 1 program. It really is appalling.

To some degree, Windows font sizes and icon sizes are customisable (even more so in Vista). This may ease your pain in 1280x1024 mode. 0 -
This is really ridiculous not to support 1024x768 -- I understand that 1280x800 is much better, but why not to keep lower resolutions usable? Scrolling, smaller fonts, more compact interface, I don't know what is the most suitable way for P1 developers. As for me, this is really a question of whether to buy this quite good piece of software... 0 -
When I use 1280 x 800 resolution the preview images are slightly distorted because the width is a little more narrow than it should be for the height of the image and all of my desktop icons are distorted in the same way.
I too wish Phase One would have stayed with 1024 x 768.
Maybe Pro 4 will be better - assuming it ever arrives.
I have been using C1 Pro since Version 1.01 but I am seriously looking at Adobe Camera RAW as a C1 Pro replacement.0
