please help, actual CAPTUREONE making d90 pictures too warm
i am having an issue with color management, when i use perceptual rendering intent the colors are normal however when i change to absolute colorimetric to get more accurate colors my white balance is way too warm, the kelvin number stays the same but the picture becomes very warm, as an example if a picture was shot with correct white balance at 6000k and i change to absolute colorimetric i then have to change the white balance to somewhere around the 4000k mark or lower, i have searched the internet and have not found any similar problems, i am using a nikon d90 with the newest firmware update, an eMac G4 OS 10.5 and capture one 4.5., i have also calibrated my monitor using the mac supplied calibrating software.

Well, Capture One is doing to your images exactly what you tell it to do. This is due to your choice for absolute colorimetric rendering intent (AC). This intent does not move the white point, as relative colorimetric rendering intent (RC) does. I quote: Absolute colorimetric preserves the white point, while relative colorimetric actually displaces the colors so that the old white point aligns with the new one (while still retaining the colors' relative positions). The exact preservation of colors may sound appealing, however relative colorimetric adjusts the white point for a reason. Without this adjustment, absolute colorimetric results in unsightly image color shifts, and is thus rarely of interest to photographers.

Bottom-line, do not use AC intent for photography, but RC or perceptual.0
