Mac Mini and 1DsMII tethering Died.. HElP!
Was shooting the other day in studio and I accidentally pulled the firewire plug from my 1DsMII while shooting. After that it did not work anymore.
I restarted several times. Turned off and on camera computer etc..
Started camera first then C-1 first? Which is the best way by the way. Do I start C-1 first then turn on camera or Turn on camera then start C-1?
Thanks for any help.
Mac Mini 1.66 ghz Intel 2 gigs RAM. 15 foot CANON firewire cable.
Thank you,

Either one is OK but from time to time if you plug-unplug-plug-unplug... the camera, sometime C1 is unable to reconnect to the camera.
When this appens, I keep the camera connected and then close/reopen C1
it usualy works0 -
My SOP when all goes haywire is to shut down everything (including removing A/C power insert or battery on camera), and remove the data cable.
I then re-insert A/C power insert or battery in camera, reconnect data cable, re-boot computer, and launch CO. Last, I turn on camera when CO is fully open.
To keep data cables connected, give this a try:

I am still having problems.. Also it seem when I wiggle my fire wire cable the connection get's cut off. I have even tried on a new fire wire cable..
Anybody else experience this? Canon 1 DsMII 10.4.8 C-1 3.7.5.
I have shot tethered for a couple of years now with out any problems at all.. Now all of a sudden probelms connecting..
IS there anyway the connection to the camera has gone bad and is there any way to check..
It seems to be with just the mac min as far as I can tell.
Tried on my G5 and all seems OK?
Thanks alot..
All this happen when I accidentally disconnected my fire wire cable when shooting..

Have you tried a "firewire port reset"?
Unplug all firewire cables from your mac mini and unplug the power cable as well. Wait for about ten minutes and plug in everything. It's worth a try.

Thanks JLH , But the Mac mini recognizes the fire wire but soon loses connection.
Is it possible that the port in the camera could be going bad? Is that possible.. or Common I should ask?
Thanks for any further help...

Hey,
Very possible that the connector on the camera has come loose from the sudden pull or trip the other day. Does happen! Have seen it with rentals and also, it is a good idea to have a few cables on hand. Sometimes you will find that only one works out of half a dozen. The repeaters come loose and disconnected on the cables. Also, you might want to try trashing your preferences in C1, and check if that works for you. Find the C1 preference and trash it and restart the computer and then C1. Hope this works!
