Urgent! Images missing from Session.
Mac 10.6.7
C1 6.2.1 Pro
Set up a new Session yesterday named Hughes Fall 2010 and processed 100 images, very intricate color corrections, and then exported them. After completing this I discovered there was another 40 or so images that I needed to process in this group so I added them through the same process. From within Photo Mechanic 4.6.6 I selected these images and instruct Photo Mechanic to open in Capture One. The images were added to this session and I finished them last night.
However I wanted to tweak a few of them before processing and I was experiencing some odd behavior in the program; using the Copy/Apply tool from the top of the Toolbar w/ the shift key the attributes were not being copied/applied to the selected file. I will cover that in a later post.
So I rebooted. Upon reboot all the files from the initial group have turned up missing in the Session and only showing the second set that were edited.
This is very alarming, if these files are missing this will cost me so enormously.
Urgent assistance! And I hate using the word urgent.
Addendum* I have checked the History Tab under Batch and all of the files from the missing group show up here. I don't know if this helps, but it may give some clues to resolving this.
Thanks,
Doug

I have located where the settings for these files reside:
HD 2 Photos/Dump/Images to Edit/Hughes Family October 2010/Ashleigh Hughes/CaptureOne/Settings50
From a similar issue previously, Paul instructed me to delete the Session and create a new one. If I create a new session file where do I put it in the path above, in the CaptureOne folder or in another sub-folder? I have not figured this out. I am trying different locations currently. I need it to call the existing Settings folder.

Hi Doug,
First, as long as your session is working properly, there is not use in recreating a session file.
Regarding the missing images. Vital information in this story is whether you let Photo Mechanic:
- place the second batch in the same or in a different folder as the first
- rename image with a sequence number and whether that number was reset
In case you did use different folders for the consecutive batches of information go to the Library tool and look for the folder with missing images. By the way, if you can reprocess the images from the batch history, they are still on your hard drive (that would be my first check).
In case of renaming and placing into same folder by PM4, and not being able to reprocess from CO6, things does not look that good.0 -
Thanks Paul!
I am not onsite so I will try and describe the best I can.
The second set of images were in the same original folder and opened up in the same session folder. I moved the subfolder to another location. However all the .cos files are in the Setings folder, I see each file in there w/ the .cos extension. I just can't seem to link them.
I wanted to try and get back to you before your day was over.

Some tips.
The image folder is supposed to be the parent folder to the Settings50 folder. When you open the image folder from the Library tool, CO6 will read the images plus the adjustments from the Settings50 folder.
When you move folders with images, it is best to do this with CO6's Library tool, not from Finder unless you know what you are doing (no offense). CO6 moves all required sub folders with the image folder you move, hence the folder structure is never compromised or broken.0 -
+1
only move files around in finder if you are confident you just need RAW (no settings). You can also "pack files as EIP" which allows you to move them through finder with settings 'baked in'. of course you will need to always view them with C10 -
Problem Solved! Thanks. It was me chasing my tail today guys.... there was no issue whatsoever. The file previews were there the entire time. The issue I gather was when I rebooted the preview images that opened were from the second import, Unkown Album. All I had to do was look at all images within the Library tab. Paul- you triggered the thought of checking the Library tool in one of your responses... cheers mate that was all I needed to do.
