Does the Spot Removal tool do anything?

I am unable to remove even a single hot pixel with this tool. It seems totally useless. I place the orange circle around the speck of dust and then click. The circle stays in place, but so does the speck. Is there another step that I am missing? As usual, the C1 User's manual is of no help whatsoever.

  Rob,
  "Hot Pixels" are not Dust.
  Dust is Dust and this tool removes only that, dark dust on the image.
  If you need to remove light spots please be patient for the update in the tool with 5.1.
