Need Capture/Collection Clarification
Apologies in advance for novice questions. I'm relatively new to C1 Pro, and I having trouble finding information specific to the following:
- Does the Capture Tab refer strictly to being tethered?
- Can you assist me with understanding what is meant by a "Collection" and how to take advantage of this functionality? For example, my typical workflow (after having images downloaded to my hard drive) is to use the Browser window in C1 and navigate to the directory of images I want to work on. If I add them as a collection, does that simply mean that this directory will have it's own "permanent" tab? Is there any other significance/advantage to adding a directory as a "Collection"?
Thanks very much. I've browsed the manual and searched the forum and cannot seem to get grounded regarding these basics. Apologies if I've somehow overlooked the obvious.

Mark,
You understand this all correctly.
Yes, the Capture Tab is for tethered shooting.
The Host Capture button is supported for Phase One Digital Backs only.
Direct tethering into PRO is possible with many Canon EOS DSLRs.
Any DSLR that has software to establish camera connection, can be used in the background and files written into Session folder in Capture One.
See Knowledge Base article:

Session and Collection are the same.
Browse and Insert current folder as permanent collection will give it it's own Tab name.
Notice if browsed but not set as permanent, text is in italics, and if permanent it is normal block.
When done working on a Session/collection it can be removed and then the Previews can be cleaned from the Preview Cache to save space on machine.
Preferences > Preview Cache > choose Clean Up Now
Some studios work on 1 Session to completion, archive and remove.
Others, like me, have multiple Session tabs in various stages of completion.
Cheers,
K C0
