Un-upgradeable license

It has long bothered me that my license (express 7 to > pro 7 > then pro 8 ) is not listed as upgradeable after waiting on 2 upgrade sales to ver10 and failing because my license was not valid. This was my last support ticket:

So my Captureone pro 8 is STILL considered Pro 7 key? whyyyy...
Why is there not even an option to upgrade to 9 instead ?

Can anyone pls clarify, because this setup is forcing me to purchase a PRO license twice ...

  This is a User to User forum so there is little chance that you will get a definitive answer here.
  
  Indeed I'm not sure it is appropriate to discuss the matter at all since you have already an official and personal response from Phase.
  
  In the time since you bought V7 and I upgraded from 6 to 7 I have also upgraded from 7 to 8 and 8 to 9. To upgrade to 10 I would need a third upgrade. Whereas you seem to be suggesting that you think moving from 7 to 10 should only cost you 2 upgrades.
  
  In terms of our renewals helping to fund the development and support of the product I don't see a problem with paying a reasonable sum for the upgrade.
  
  I see no reason why a marketing plan to encourage people who may have missed one upgrade cycle to take advantage of the next without additional upgrade costs should become something to be repeated from way back in time.
  
  With the upgrade pricing policy the way it is (in my opinion it's not at all unreasonable or untypical for the industry) you could just buy a V10 licence for about the same amount as a 3 step upgrade. That seems reasonable to me.
