Rhetorical question? Of course, when an image is displayed elsewhere on a non-calibrated or differently calibrated monitor, it will appear different (lighter, darker, with a color cast etc.).

Not the point. I am asking if anyone has had processed images come out darker than they appeared in C1P 4.8.2 on a calibrated monitor. Viewing the two on the same monitor. This has been happening to me quite often on any of my seven production computers. They are all running 10.5.8 and have their monitors calibrated. It seems the processing is running about .2 of a stop low.

I find it on almost everything I shoot. I have gotten into the habit of setting the image lighter and more saturated in C1 Pro, which means the images open up closer to what I had in mind in Photoshop.
Perhaps it has something to do with the new darker background in C1Pro 4, compared to 3.8? Or else, there's a problem.

Sounds more like a problem; CO 4.8.x's Viewer should carefully match Photoshop's image (only very minor differences in color balance or density should occur IMHO). If found differences depending on the raw file you process.

Just installed CO4.8 and not getting the exact color & definition when opening in PhotoCS4. Never had this problem during last 4y with CO3. Any settings I'm not aware?. (The pic is slightly lighter and less definition.)

Type of raw file you process (model/brand camera)?

FWIW, we have recently been seeing quite a bit of problems with users and CS4. Some cases have been solved by changing Open GL settings in CS4, however many others are still under investigation. I would recommend being in contact with adobe as well as us. CS4 is handling color very different from CS3 as we had very few problems with CS3 displaying images the same as Capture One.

Do you mean turning off Open GL in PS CS4 or turning off something in the Advanced setting dialogue setting?
