question about applying the gradient mask
Hi
Say I have shot a portrait against a light blue sky - I would like to darken the background sky only - "as if" applying a gradient mask but without the gradient mask effecting the foreground person.
Is there a way to do that ?
IE- can I create a sky mask and turn it alone into a gradient mask ?
thnks

Have you tried just drawing the gradient mask and then carefully erasing the part of the mask over the subject? 0 -
You can use colour mask. Pick the blue sky on the colour editor tab, choose create mask from the selected colour option. This might include some blue parts of your subject as well. You can either erase those areas and fine tune the colour pick.
Also first you can create a fought mask around your subject and the use colour mask option as above and prevent any other areas.
Hope this helps.0 -

Yes, I did try it that way. I Thought perhaps there was a "fancier" built in route to take.
If I use a colour mask It does allow control over the background (sky) in both color and exposure - but not in a gradient
manner. I guess if I want Gradient sky I need to apply it "manually"
thanks a bunch for the support.0
