Will Capture One Pro support tethered Nikons soon?
Anyone heard if Capture one will add tethered support for the nikon line of dslrs? I see Canon is currently supported.
Thanks

v. 3.7.5 will support Nikon D2X tethered shooting, AFAIK and will be available in this September...
I am counting the hours.... 😊

Hello
3.7.5 will not support tethered shooting with any Nikon, it will however support RAW files from Nikon D80 and D2Xs.0 -

this is slowly getting really annoying...
how much more time will PhaseOne need to achieve the basics? Have the necessairy files not been freely available since quite some time?
BTW the info given from my local PhaseOne dealer were exactly what I stated in my posting above...
This should not be happening! ☹️

Take a look at the posting in Windows users from Sept. 4th 2006 regarding workable tethered shooting with Nikons. It is as close as you can get with tethered Nikon shooting using Capture1, it will also work with Nikon Capture software but will run slower. I authored it and it works great.

I tried it and I must say it is not even worth a thought... ☹️
Nikon Capture4 is probably one of the most miserable capture software ever written...
I think it is about time that such a fantastic and fast software like C1 supports Nikons directly. The necessairy files have in the beginning not been available, but this has changed and I think it is about time that Nikons are being supported for thethered shooting.
What really irritates me is that nobody at PhaseOne has given me a proper explanation why nothing is happing up till now.... 🙄

The best explanation I can give you is that before it has been a licens policy problem with Nikon (I think you still remember the whole whitebalance issue with D2X when they first came out)
Now we are moving forward and to be honest priority comes much in to play here. To implement this is not a small task when it can affect Canon and Phase One tethered as well on top of figuring out how to implement Nikon componentes in to Capture One.
It has been said before and I gladly say it again that it will not come in until we have arrived at the 4.x platform. Major work is being done on the Mac version but even much more on the Windows side.
Olo. I understand that this is your top request for Capture One and you have many with you but we have to balance alot of different requests and find the best balance between available time, resources and feature request. This is not a easy job and we have people sitting with this hard task and considdering how complicated it is I think they are doing a great job.
Hopefully we can meet you request soon as well.0 -

Thanks for your profound explanation!
At least it gives me some hope for the future.... Besides I do believe that the PhaseOne is doing a fantastic job! Everyone can see that on how frequently updates are available with new or improved features. Please do not get me wrong...
On the other hand I think Nikon users should get the same benefits as Canon users...
thanks

You could not be more right.
There are two things with this though.
1. Canon sells more cameras today so no wonder that we choose Canon first, but after that it is Nikon.
2. Canon has been much more forthcoming when it comes to providing components to enable tethered shooting. But there seems to be a change of attitude from Nikon which is being welcomed with open arms.0 -
Hey,
I've been wondering the same exact thing and it has been a thorn on my side for a long time now. I jus finished a shoot a couple of days ago, with NCC 4.4.2, and thought that this really stinks that I have to work with two very different sw's, just to accomplish the same end result. How foolish of Nikon to not see that they are infact losing out on a very precious commodity, money, by being able to sell more camera's to us Nikon consumer's that love their Nikon's as we do, if only they would allow C One to produce the necessary package to make it all work. Too bad for Nikon for not seeing the possibilities and shutting the door on future sales.
There should be more done for us by Nikon. They are so game on selling us what they consider their own brand of sw, that they don't realize that they are in fact hurting them selves in the process, by locking C 1 out of the game.
Note: I hate NCE so much that in order to use the NCC, I first had to remove the preference for it and remove the application from the applications folder to get it to work without launching NCE, everytime that there is new capture taken. I used C 1 to view my images and process and organize files. Worked great except that the images didn't refresh with each new capture. I had to toggle between app's to get the new images to show up in the preview window and thumbnails window too. Just stinks!

The progress is too slow for us Nikon shooters.
We really hope to shoot tethered with Nikon.
PS. for Hi ISO file I still prefer the slow Nikon Capture. It's sharper and less noise, IMHO 😊0 -

The Nikon software was actually Camera Control Pro, that came out in August, read the windows users forum for more info with the 9/4 date. It does work pretty well, I have used Capture 1 pro with Canon tethered and this isn't much more effort to get your images into Capture 1 using Nikons new Camera control software.( I agree Nikon's previous Capture 4.4 isn't so good.

Hey,
I don't agree with the fact that it works fine. In order to get it to work, you have to set up a session via C1, and then you have to point the Camera control folder at the session capture folder. When all of that is done, C1 will see the files, but the page or folder does not refresh with each new capture and you have to toggle between sw inorder to see the file.
