C1P, i-view or light-room?
Hallo, I have a question about the two sw in object.
For meta data IPTC and the C1P compability have anyone experience?
Is better I-view or light room.
I can not make the tests becouse my i-view trial version is expirate, and light room too.
Light room I like a lot, i-view is more complicate... 😕

iView is the best asset management tool, very powerful searches and very quick to find well labelled images from where ever you stored them. Also iView does not need to be directly connected to the images to find it, it stores thumbnails ina database.
lightroom is more or a end to end tool, it is not best of breed and does a little of something quite well, but in my opinion is aimed at the prosummer market.
If you get the images right in the camera a simple raw convertor will give you great images, that iview can catalogue and Photoshop and really let you be creative with.0 -
LR does everything iview does plus it does a lot more....LR stores previews in its gallery (or more then one gallery)so oyu don't have to have all your files around... C1 really only does one thing (and it does it very well) it is a raw converter...iview is a organizing/cataloging software and LR is organizer, raw converter, output, print,.... i would go to adobe's website again, v1.0 is available for download now, i don't think it expires until the end of the month.....other thing to consider: LR is in V1 and it is phantastic, stable and while there are some features that are missing, it is by far the best V1 software i have ever seen.....iview go bought by microsoft last year, so we don't know how long they will be around as a standalone software.....C1 will come out with their V4.0 soon, but i doubt it will expand into LR's capabilities as an organizer......hope that helps 0 -
I would like to know if C1P V.4 it could be more near to LR or iView.
With LR I used a lot to print contact, slide show and web gallery, I think that it is great!
To convert I use C1P becouse is the best, above all with my P25.
I didn't try a lot i-view
I don't understand why Phase One offer a promotion with i-view above all after that microsoft bought it.
Is my opinion that microsoft SW are not really performed and I'm sure that with the time don't will develop it for mac...

i don't think that C1 V4 will have any organizing features built in, i doubt they will include any printing, web, anything like that.....they will focus on quality and speed.....
LR converts my P30 files as good as C1 does...i was surprised....i am now LR only....i shoot tethered, so i still shoot into C1, but i shoot to a watched folder which takes it straight into LR.....works great, the files look amazing.....give it a try.....
iview is a pure organizing tool, works great and was really the only thing out there for years.....now even bridge can do a lot of what iview does....and LR does much much more, while doing the same basic functions (metadata, search, thumbs,.....printing, web,....)0
