Question: Catalog/Current Location/Albums
Hi,
Happy New Year to all of us 😄 . Yesterday I watched several tutorials regarding C1 Pro7 especially working with catalogs.
I do have a pretty large collection of model images (fashion/boudoir/fine art nude) which I wanted to create a big catalog having the images stay in their current location. After successfully importing 8000 images I created 3 albums called "Fashion", "Boudoir" and "Fine Art Nude" where I wanted to group the catalog into genre specific albums. Apparantly this can only be done when the images are stored within the catalog. At least I was not able to drag the images into the album without moving them into the catalog and being removed from the original location. I hope my explanation are clear but for now it seems that the way I would like to use catalogs and the features are not working as I wish it should be.
Bug or feature or am I doing something wrong? The documentation is not clear on this either.
Thanks,
Peter

When you work with catalogs in CO7, the first step is to import the image into the catalog. You can select Current Location in the import dialog, to create a reference only in the catalog and not import the image file physically into the catalog.
Next, you can place your images in albums or smart albums. An image in an album is a virtual link within the catalog itself, and has no connection to the physical image. Even more, in case the referenced images are on a shared volume or network disk, and it is disconnected from the computer (a.k.a. offline images), you can still manage your images in the catalog and put them into albums.0
