I trust you've already raised a support case. If this really is a bug, it's a rather serious one.

A support case is the only way to get Phase One working on it.

    Experimented on my Windows machine:

    1. Exported a Nikon raw file to jpg: GPS coordinates were unaltered

    2. Converted the raw file to a dng, then exported: Again, GPS coordinates were unaltered

It would seem then, that the error is either OS-specific, or that the Leica OOC dng gps-info is in a format different from what is carried over by the Adobe dng-converter, in such a way as to be misread by C1.

Try for yourself to export from C1 a dng created by the Adobe converter from a raw file from a camera other than the M240. It will help isolate the problem. Let us know how it pans out.

    Good luck.

    Cheers,

    Dear Mogens,

On import, both LightRoom, Photoshop, Bridge and C1 all agree and show the same GPS coordinates, and all four are correct with reference to the actual site compared to the map.

It does not matter if I import to C1, Bridge or LR, all reads the correct GPS info from the Leica DNG.

On export from C1, the GPS info changes to a slightly different coordinate, and marks a location that is approximately 1.7 km away from the actual site where the photo was taken.

The change in GPS coordinates when exporting from C1 is the same, and independent if I export TIFF or DNG format.

Interestingly, if I export from C1 to JPG format, the GPS coordinates does not change!

I have filed a case with P1, and supplied them with original raw and export file from C1.

    Best regards

    Hi Trond,

My thinking was that we might be able to isolate the problem a bit before handing it to P1 support.

We know that Leica M240/C1 on Mac vs. Nikon raw/C1 on Windows make a diffrence, but is the problem universal for all raws on Macs, or is it specific to Leica M240 dng's?

Anyway, i'm sure the P1 staff will be able to sort things out.

    Happy new year,
    Mogens

    Dear Mogens,

I am thinking since the GPS data is correctly read into C1, it should also be exported correctly from C1!

There is no reason fro C1 to change the GPS data in any way, it should just copy whatever is in the GPS field in the EXIF, to the corresponding GPS field in the output file.

As a curiosity C1 only changes the GPS data if I export to TIFF or DNG.

If I export to JPG format, then C1 does not change the data in the exported JPG file.

    Best regards

    i again,

I follow you completely, you expectationns are very reasonable.

That said, I have learnt that many times experimentation wins over speculation, possibly due to my limited imagination. There could be be others like me out there however.

    Cheers,
    Mogens

    Dear Mogens,

I think it should be reasonable to expect that whatever GPS info is output from C1 during export, right or wrong, alt least the GPS info should not depend on the output format of the file, JPG, TIFF or DNG!?

    Best regards
