Unit Size drop down in Crop

Can someone explain how or why the Unit Size button/drop down does not seem to work in the Crop function.
I cannot get the unit to change to pixel/inches or the like. The drop down does not seem active. Am I just not
setting a preference right? I do not see any options in Preferences that would seem to cover this.

  I think it depends on your currently selected output recipe.

  I think it depends on your currently selected output recipe.

  I agree.
  
  The crop is a ratio, not a measured size. Size or dimensions are governed by the processes recipes (typically).
  
  The ratio will be reported as a size or dimension on screen according to the active recipe - although if you have more than one recipe active this may not give entirely complete information!

  I think the actively selected recipe is taken. So, if you switch on more output recipes (boxes ticked), only the one selected (highlighted line) is what is used in these kind of "calculations".
