When Smart Albums are Dumb
Smart albums are dumb when they don't work. And they're not working at the moment.
We work on multiple day catalog shoot and end up with a huge hierarchy of shot folders, subfolders, archive numbers, etc... and a need to find art directors selects and stash them in an album. All of this while going from shot to shot as quick as possible. The easiest way to do this is to create smart albums with the criteria being star rating and full date.
First, this just doesn't work. Or, sometimes it does, but only after restarting three times. Other times it just never works.
Second, in the Date dialog, the date shown is ALWAYS yesterday. It doesn't default to today's date. Change it to today's date, add a new criteria and boom, back to yesterday's date.
Bridge, Lightroom, PhotoMechanic... all of these programs do this seamlessly.
What gives? Is CO7.2.3 getting flubbed up by some other date/time preference (i've defaulted them all)?
Any knowledge would be appreciated.

There are some aspects to be aware of when using smart albums, resulting in the user thinking that they 'do not work'. It is however, important to know whether shoot session or catalog.
And there have been a number of issues acknowledged and hopefully addressed in CO 7.2.4. I hope it is worthwhile for you to try with this maintenance update against the date issue you have.0 -

Why wouldn't you just flag or star the hero images in their shot folder and build a quick-key to sort images by rating? I work on dry catalogue shoots all.the.time. I've never had an issue with workflow......
I've never used favourites or smart folders... OG Session FTW.0
