Historically, CO never published updates with new cameras, so you need to wait. Otherwise they had to publish a new software every other month which is not feasible for CO

Thoughts on average time it takes them to release an update?
    Is CO slower than Adobe?

I'm normally not on the bleeding edge, but a small mirrorless with these specs and small size just works for this job. I'm not just blaming C1, it's the whole digital eco-system. Manufacturers need to start supplying the main players, C1, Adobe, Photo Mechanic, with what they need to make the software we all use work with cameras they're making. It's kinda ridiculous....

I think that C1 may be slower than some software manufacturers - I don't know about Adobe specifically. Some software just works by using data supplied by the camera manufacturers, so it is quite easy to rush out support for a new camera. Phase One say that they insist on getting hold of an example of the camera for themselves and building a profile for it based on their own tests, which inevitably takes longer (in some cases because there is a delay in even being able to get hold of a camera that is very new and in high demand).

Almost copy and pasting what I've been saying:

PhaseOne does not forecast new camera support. However with research and experience, you can see a 2-3 month average after the camera is shipped.

That could also mean that since we are heading towards the end of the year, around the time that PO has been releasing successive versions of C1, you may not see X-T3 support until V12.

Personally I think they should let us load up the files with a generic profile straight away, or with one from the previous camera iteration, but that's not how things are at the moment.

As far as I know, you can use the Adobe DNG Converter and then modify the EXIF model data to an X-T2 for example...

But that's worse than processing the file in Lightroom.

PhaseOnes support for Fuji cameras has really be lackluster. No GFX 50s support, no tethering support for any Fuji camera and the time it takes until they support new cameras is also long.
I really hope they improve on these points, otherwise I am forced back to Adobe, something I don't even want to think about.

Is GFX a MF camera? Yes. So PO won't support it. They don't support any MF camera from any manufacturer except their own. Some for Pentax 675, Hasselblad, Leica S, etc

Well I stand corrected, they have just announced collaboration with CO for GFX

OMG, I never thought it would happen but thanks Phase One. Take my money for all the future 😄

That's indeed a surprise. Do you have a link to the announcement?

    OP here

GREAT NEWS!! Arrived back in the US to see the blog post about Fuji support from C1. Glad to see C1 are making a commitment to supporting mirrorless. It's simply the direction the business is moving. Flying back from Italy I had my camera bags weighed and had to start pulling cameras out to hit the carry-on weight. If I could drop even part of my DSLR kit when traveling on assignment, it would make my job a lot easier, to say nothing of taking the strain off my back! Looking forward to running tests on the Fuji converter engine to see how files look. Thanks for listening Phase One!!!

Just when I thought I had soured on Capture One for good, this move for fuji support really impresses me.

I know that early adopters want things as fast as possible, but I'm more in the camp that we get better served if we just act a bit patient and get the support done right and carefully. Adobe's quick response is not an enticing feature for me, not compared to the careful "when it's done" approach.

Oh the disappointment. It's still a great thing and I'm re-motivated again about capture one because of the step forward in supporting Fuji first of all, and supporting it so well via it's own package. But of course Phase One managed to disappoint at the same time. The Fuji software, unlike the Pro and Sony both, is only available via subscription. No thanks. Not today, not tomorrow not ever.

I'm invested in Nikon, Micro four thirds and Fuji, but am about to send my 18 year old daughter my favorite gear, the Fuji system. She's been a big fan of Fuji since age 14 and had even won a local contest and is excited about picking photography up. First job, paying all her own bills, first apartment and school part time, I'm pretty proud and this is her reward. I'd be happy to buy her a stand alone license for the 160 dollars Phase One is asking. That way if she doesn't really get too much into it, it is still better that Apple Photos for her. Not that Photos lacks for anything at her stage. But I'm not going to saddle neither myself nor her to a yearly, no choice about it, fee. It's that "choice" thing. That's why she's not using Lightroom neither. Her age group expect free, something I'd like to upgrade her thinking on, mind you, but by opening her mind to "easy monthly payments". So thus my gripe, like it or not. Your free to go whichever way suits your viewpoints, why limit the choice here in this narrow way for one group, Phase One?

But, still I'm grateful for the two steps forward.

I suppose I could transfer one of my two licenses to her though, right? I can make do with three seats and she only need two, so perhaps that's the way forward, giving her the latest standalone Pro version, in this case? Unless this step by Phase one signals a sneaky new direction away from choice eventually. Hmmm, which choice to make. My Chrystal ball is cloudy.
