    maybe you need to go to prefs-then capture tab-check the canon box only?

    Check that Image Capture in the OS isn't blocking C1 from connecting. Go to Applications>Image Capture and then (with the camera connected) click on the tiny tiny tiny little arrow that looks like a speck of dust in the bottom left corner. Change the preference to: 'Do nothing'.

    It an annoying setting that seems to have switched on after the latest Mavericks up date.

    Checking the settings in Image Capture is certainly a good step.
    However I would suggest you ensure;
    - The Provider for Canon is turned on in Capture One Preferences
    - There is no CF card in the body
    - You are using a direct USB port (not via monitor or keyboard)
    - You are using a 3.3 Meter USB cable provided by Canon
    - You can see the Canon 5D Mark II in the System Profiler of the system
    - You are using PRO mode of the software
    - You can verify that Canon's own EOS utilities connects to the camera.

    There are no errors with the Canon 5D Mark II in Capture One 7.2.2 and 10.9.3 OS.
    It's also suggested that you define the "latest" firmware as anyone stumbling across this thread in the future has a solid reference point if they are investigating issues and don't get the "latest" today with the "latest" a month from now.

    Thanks a lot! It was only a problem with the prefs...
