Hi,
Or maybe Phase One will buy Microsoft 😉. I do remember iView and use it every day. I also have an alpha of Expression Media 2 which is coming along very nicely.

this would be the final reason to throw the towel and switch to lightroom....
up to now i'am not realy happy with the C1 v4 (LE) because so many bugs and quality loss...
i cannot work with the old version 3.7.7 because no Nikon D3 support....
realy a pity0 -
Wouldn't surprise me at all. In fact, this is exactly what I've been thinking based on the way PO has been acting for the past few months. They are displaying all the signs of a company getting ready to dump a division and run laughing to the bank, leaving us poor gumps in their wake.
Microsoft gets a decent RAW converter (not a great one anymore, but MS doesn't care about greatness, they only want a company with a solid past reputation they can exploit), PO management gets rich and, as usual, the paying customers gets screwed.
Get used to it, this is the business model of mega-corps these days.0 -
I decided to go the Lightroom way. Atleast my $ are going to fund better, not worse, updates. [quote="D2xs30" wrote:

My money is with Michael Tapes' and Magne Nilsen's new converter,
which I'll be beta-testing. It'll be lean and mean, like RSP, and should
have exceptional output.

Rob, put a website link to us!
etcetera.cc or rawworkflow do not tell nothing about this new software.
2 great names in Raw knowledge...
Very good news 😊0 -

Nothing official, yet. I'm waiting to be contacted, with regard to
beta-testing. Michael does not know if they will do a public
beta at this time(may stay with internal).
My gold standard has always been C1 LE 3.7. I have never used
anything that can surpass its color, detail extraction, and low noise.
This is an opportunity for Etcetera Consulting(new company name)
to really blow the doors off the raw converter market. Hope they
succeed.

I'm so happy! I don't care if Adobe or Microsoft buys them out. At least this means more resources to produce a stellar product and better camera support. As of now I get ignored by Phase One on support for X3F due to the lack of software engineers who knows what they are doing, plus they are slow to develop anything. Happy days! 0 -

You're under the impression that Microsoft would be better?? 😕 I fear MS would only dumb down the product even more, just like everything else they offer. Pretty soon, only a mentally deficient 3rd grader will be able to use their products.
Adobe, on the other hand, might offer some positives to the mix, but I don't trust them not to screw it up either. Camera support would no doubt improve, but none of these companies are known for effective or efficient tech support.0 -

Dumb down? ROFL...everything about C1 at this point is dumb down. Slow agorithms for display zooming in the editor and so forth...etc....etc.. At least it has a chance with Microsoft for better coding with more resources and money for the project. IMO it can't hurt at this point.. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Microsoft. The only problem they have is a few that tend to have phobias for huge successful corporations. As for me I don't care, never liked C1 and it's concept anyway, not since being suckered into SE edition and lack of camera support.. Happy DAys!0
