Focussing images in Capture One Pro 6.4.5

I'm importing images from a card reader, images shot RAW on my Canon 1DSmk3. I'm having issues with focussing on the images, using the focus window - images appear pixelated, and even the preview images are not clear. The "wheel" in Capture One is still spinning. The sessions are not especially large - max 50-60 files. I've tried restarting/shutting down, but still the problem persists. I'm working on Macbook Pro, OSX version 10.6.8. Deadlines looming....
I've processed a couple of images and reviewed in photoshop - nothing wrong with the files.
Any suggestions...?

Hi Mike,
Often when this happens to me, I switch the folder in focus in CaptureOne and then return to the capture folder and it will "focus". If that doesn't work, try trashing the CaptureOne folder within the capture folder, forcing a metadata and preview refresh within CaptureOne.
