I trash the Preview & Thumbnails folder and keep the Image Settings folder. This keeps all the adjustments i've made. If i later want to wotk with my pictures i just point C1 to the rawfolder containing the rawfiles and the Capture One Settings folder (now only containg the Image Settings folder). Now C1 needs to rebuild the previews and thumbnails, but all settings are kept.

I store no data on my boot drive. It's poor OSX technique. Current wisdom is to keep over 50% free for OSX to do its work.

I also empty the Processed folder, and remember to empty the Trash. Rather than store on media, consider backing up to HDs. I have a 4 bay HD enclosure with 3- 250GB HDs, and hot swap bay on the top. I then have 3 HDs for backing up that go in and out of the top bay when it's time to back-up. Those back-up HDs get stored in a safe- supposedly 😉

If you set this up with SATA drives, you may even want to just leave the sessions right on that storage HD and work on them there, but if it you notice a slow down, do a finder move to move the session back to your computer HD.

You could still use CD/DVD media as a last resort back-up, but the best way for that is to put them in a bank safe deposit box and plan to never touch them ever again unless absolutely necessary. I have found it is a huge PITA to use media as a storage method as you have to find them, load them, etc, etc. With a HD method, everthing is always within easy access.
