Set different default starting location for file operations
Is this possible?
I first started asking this question concerning C1v9 (see here - ) but still seems to be something you cannot do.
The issue maybe only exists on Mac, but these are the symptoms...
I keep all my C1 stuff on a separate drive on my Mac and it would be very helpful to have the file operations 'start' in a folder on that drive rather than in "pictures".
I don't suppose it would be hard to implement, but despite it being a requested feature for at least three versions of C1 still not any sign of it appearing... unless I'm missing something obvious.

- File/Open... defaults to "Pictures"
- File / New Catalog - click on '...' location chooser - defaults to 'Pictures'
- File / New Session - click on '...' location chooser - defaults to 'Pictures'
- File / Import Images... - click on 'choose folder' drop down - defaults to 'Pictures'
- File / Verify Catalog or Session... - defaults to 'Pictures'

I am still not sure here any more than I was in the discussion of v9 that this is working as intended for you. I have just done a test and created a new session: of course Capture One offered to create it in my Pictures folder, but I navigated to my Dropbox>Photos folder as the location. Then I closed Capture One 11 and opened it again. I went to create another new session and the location Capture One offered me was Dropbox>Photos again, without my having to navigate there.

It will remember your last chosen location, but the Finder dialog that appears will always populate with the ~/Pictures. 0 -

As per the original post, I too would love the initial Finder location to be user selectable. Pretty sure Aperture and other programs offer such in the preferences panels.
It's a petty request really but quite helpful.0 -
How about creating and using a catalogue or session template?
Does that save locations for each new instance?0 -
The excellent Default Folder utility add-on allows you to set a default or first-choice folder for each app and much more. I have used it for so long, I now can't say what features are part of the OS & Finder and which are DF. Free to try. Absolutely reliable. (No commercial connection.)
A custom setting in DF may make your issue disappear entirely.
