Show image date in browser
Hi,
is it possible to show the image date under the thumbnails in the browser?
I know I can filter a specific time frame, but if your aren't exactly sure when you took the picture, having the date orient yourself would be very helpful. More helpful to me than the image name, anyway, which you can show under the thumbnail.
Thanks in advance!
Best regards

I also know, that I can look at the Metadata Tool. I am looking for showing the dates in the browser. 0 -

Have you considered including "Image Date" in the file name (e.g. at time of import)?0 -
That would be a workaround. I'd have to rename the entire catalogue.
If this is the only way, I will do it.
Thanks.0 -

To avoid the work involved in the work around (unless it is something you need all of the time) you could just create a floating version of the Metadata tool when you need it and resize according needs. Leave it on screen as you work through the images.
Just a suggestion, given the available space under a thumbnail is limited anyway.

Capture One’s choice of information under the browser thumbnail is not nearly as rich as other tools. (basically only one choice)
There have been a number of users that have complained about the lack of choices.
Since the squeaky wheel gets the grease, I suggest that you raise a support ticket for a feature request, and request the kinds of information date and ?? that you would most use. It might also be useful to mention the capabilities of competing products, e.g. Lightroom.
Such an enhancement would be rather unlikely in Capture One 12, but Phase One are very likely planning for Capture One 13, and it’s a good idea to put your request in now.
There is limited space under the thumbnails (depends on the thumbnail size of course), so you most likely want date instead of Shutter sped, Aperture and ISO.1 -

If you have no idea of the date you want to look for I'm not sure how showing a date would help. 😉
However the instant solution for today - one that does not put pressure on the very limited number of pixels available below a thumbnail or a portrait mode image in the viewer - is to set up a Process Recipe with an active Watermark and use a Token (e.g. Image Date) to populate the Watermark.
Apply this Recipe when you wish to perform such a search - or maybe even use it as a default watermark definition in all of your recipes? (Personally I would lean towards only using it when you need it but it IS a matter of personal preference).
I find the benefits of adding to the date to the file name, as suggested by OddS, makes the most sense since it is also part of eliminating the potential for duplicate names in the system as produced by the camera's typical file naming conventions.

Really, I do lack an ability to simply set the data I want to view about the photo under in viewer and thumbnail. It just should be there, period.
But even in Metadata panel it's all too bulky and the interface doesn't imply and customization, despite there's a lot of info you probably will not ever need wasting your screen space.
Can't get it, why so many things in C1 UX are so poorly thought-out? It could be such a nice software, but we have to constantly struggle instead1
