I deleted the problem Catalog and created a new one using a local folder. Everything works fine. I added in the folder from an external hard drive and the system continually crashes again. It makes Capture One completely useless if you cant use external hard drives. Some one please tell me there is a fix for this, I would really like to be able to use the app.

I have been using external hard drives to store image files and/or catalogs since ever without any issue. The problem you are having is most probably something specific to your system and if this is the case, contacting the support team and providing them with the reports relevant to the crashes is the easiest way to find a solution.

Because your experience is untypical for CO 8, I also suggest like Ario, that when having crash issues the best course of action is contact Phase One support at:

I too experienced a full crash of a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013 - Yosemite) using Sessions based on an external USB3 SSD drive. Complete crash, black screen and restart etc full toys and rattles out of the pram job 🤓

Fault log sent to the usual place from the email address duncan@izelphotography.com. Hope it helps. Only happened the once so far but will keep a close eye on it!

I was using the latest update fine but now it crashes every time. Sent at least two crash reports. Crashes when I open it. I've been trying to open different sessions and everything.

Mostly using my internal SSD drive in a 2011 MBP with Yosemite but also have the usual externals that I've never had a problem with.

Downloading the newest Lightroom version in the meantime by really need C1 to do my work!

The "Crash Reports" are useful to the software manufacturers for generic analysis but will not result in a direct response to you.

For a personal service you need to create a Support Case with C1 Technical Support by following the link Paul provided above.
