Try before you buy problem
I am trying to run 5 Pro trial and it keeps telling me to relaunch as I have Capture One 4 (had as it has overwritten it)...
I can try Capture One 5 ok, but not PRO and it is PRO I would like to Try out before I decide whether to part with €229 for the upgrade.... Aghh...
Any help please.....

Have the same problem. Annoying because I have the same objective (find out whether the Pro only features are worth anything to me) and I'm not in the mood for any runarounds (uninstalling and reinstalling, etc.). I'm using 10.5.8 if this is relevant. 0 -
I have the same problem too. 0 -
Not tested myself, dry swimming experiment.
Assuming (if I understand properly) you installed CO5 over CO4 and now you can't go into trial mode.
I suggest to remove CO5, re-install CO4 (because you want to compare to). Run CO4 as normal and activated. Next, install CO5 again in a different folder. Run CO5 in trial mode.0 -
Right
I have got round it.
Deactivate current Capture one, then choose try Capture one 4 pro, then close.
Now install capture one 5 and choose the try 5 pro..
and hey presto it works...0 -
You should be able to deactivate 5 or (in case you don't have a license for 5), go to the license manager from the Capture One Menu and choose a PRO trial mode. Does this not work for you? 0 -

I am having the same problem and the above does not work for me either. When I try to do the pro trial is it says it has to reboot or something like that and C1 closes but never comes back on. When I open it again it is on plain C1 and if I try to select pro again I get the same circle of crap. So my 30 day trial is just withering away on something that does not work.
C1 & P1 software is working more and more like it was made by microsoft full of intentional bad bugs.0 -
Any news on this problem ? In fact I have a similar one. Using already two computers on my new CO Pro 5 licence, I decided to run CO Pro 4 from a Mac Mini Core2Duo in 10.6.2 - to no avail, since i've been running an old CO 3.7 LE licence on this computer (valid for the 4.x standard version) and i tried to deactivate the licence and reactivate with one of my two legacy Pro licenses. The first step (deactivation and reactivation with a Pro licence) works OK, but then the app asks for a relaunch in order to run in Pro mode, relauches and asks again for activation while it has already been activated. It's an endless circle and nothing helps - any ideas ? Thanks

this should be resolved with 5.0.1. If you still have problems with that version please create a support case.0 -
Having the same problem with 5.0.1.
I have a licence for Capture One 4, want to try 5 PRO before deciding which upgrade path to take.
I end up going in the same loop as everyone else...0 -
I too am unable to launch C1pro 5.0.1 in trial mode. It says I have 27 days left. When I click the button for TRY, it says that it needs to relaunch. It all quits, and nothing happens.
Repeat.
I had an activated and working C1 4.5 running. I renamed its folder "Capture One 4, and installed the new 5.0.1 into its own folder, which IT names "Capture One." I am unable to launch the trial mode of 5.01 pro, and I am also not able to run my old 4 version unless I re-enter my serial number and info again.
I am about to chuck the whole mess and just use Photoshop and Bridge. They installed easily, only needed to be installed once, and keep running.
What good are features in Capture One Pro, if you can't even try them? Worthless.0 -
In case it helps anyone, I had the same problem yesterday when trying to open version 5.1. I got around it by following advice from this thread about Snow Leopard compatibility:
My setup:- MacOS X version: 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard)
- Was running: Capture One 4.8.3
- Want to try: Capture One 5.1 PRO
The problem: Even after removing all trace of preferences and session folders, selecting Try PRO would result in a Relaunch dialog. I'd click Relaunch, but C1 wouldn't relaunch and when I started it again manually, I was back to the beginning.
The solution: I can't remember exactly what I did, but it was something like:- Chose "Use Capture One DB", and clicked the "Use" button.
- C1 closed or crashed. Started it again.
- Some error appeared, because it's DB version.
- Either by starting again or choosing the License option from the Capture One menu, I was back at the dialog and could select Try Capture One Pro.
- I think it was fine by that point; if not, it was after a restart.
Good luck!0 -
Here's a faster solution to all of the above:
-Download Capture One 5.x
-Drag to your Desktop
-Rename "Capture One" to "Capture One 5"
-Drag it to your Applications folder
-Launch, Try, Enjoy0
