shadow or highlight warning

In my point of view, shadow or highlight warning should be based on luminance. But in Capture One 4, it's based on individual RGB channels. In other words, if in an area, a channel is missing or saturated, Capture One 4 will warn you. For example, in the picture below, if I turn on the warning, most area of the door will show shadow warning, because, as you can see from the reading right above the picture, the blue channel is zero.

Implementation of warning like this simply does not make any sense. The warning is for details lost in shadow or blown out white, but there is no details lost on the door.

I am undecided about the shadow warning in C1 (also in v3), but their implementation of RGB highlight warning is something I feel is actually highly appropriate and useful. The highlight warning is probably better described as a "channel clipping" warning which indicates possible or likely colour-shifting that comes with clipped channels, which I guess is more important for some colours and subject matter than others. But I agree the shadow warning does seem to be of little practical use.
