Working with a catalogue of 100k images, and having moved from multiple old drives (external) to a single external drive. All images are stored external to C1P10.

The Locate function is used to locate and bring the C1P10 catalogue up to date with the new image/folder location(s) - Note all image folders are named as per original locations over the multiple drives with the Root folder being renamed in the NEW destination single drive. I.E. - My Pictures as root in drive F: (ORIGINAL CATALOGUE/Drive) is renamed in the new drive to P:// F_MyPictures as the root drive with all subsequent child folders underneath this folder which are identically named as per the original drive(s).

The issue on hand is that: the Locating dialogue box has no "Pause", "Stop" options, and does not show meaningful information as to the Number of IMAGES/FOLDERS to process/processed; NOR the elapsed time/time to process and related information.

As the time required to Locate the new files/folders can take anywhere from 1-4 seconds per image - this can take many days to accomplish, and with no way to stop, pause, without a dramatic and damaging Forced shutdown of the system, with resulting "damaged" catalogue!

This is not a new observation, but one which has existed from v7 or before.

A major pain to migrate to new image repositories (locally/remote/cloud)... As the only working option now is to individually select each folder to LOCATE, and as you can imagine in this case with over 800 foldes this is not a work of love to complete, but an exercise of frustration...

Please consider amending this function to better reflect the needs of large catalogue management.

    Many thanks!

Painful but I wonder if there might have been an alternative approach. I doubt the routine was conceived for the use you are putting it to and one might assume that a cancel or pause might require a lot more development work to be included in order to restart the process from where it left off.

However, the main problem you have with your post is that this primarily a User to User forum not a support forum per se.

I would advise you to create a Support Case, make sure the subject starts with the phrase "Enhancement Request:" and then a summary of the content.

Add the content from your post and submit the request. That way it will be processed through the Phase product management methodology and the level of interest (how many related and similar requests have been recorded) can be assessed with some degree of accuracy.

    HTH.

Have per your suggestion Grant opened an "Enhancement Request"

I hope this weakness will be addressed in future iterative release.

I am surprised that others have not mentioned/noticed this before - but perhaps I am the sole user amongst 100k? plus users to have catalogue migration/amalgamation issues...

    Cheers Grant!
