Hardly worth escalating when there are other things users are reporting that actually affect work flow.

I know this isn't major like the rest of you are experiencing with the OpenCL. I am merely suggesting and informing other users of this bug's existence.

Nice to read Ronald that you noticed this issue that bugged me since it changed from 5.0. to 5.1 IIRC. I liked the greyed-out option when the trash was empty/emptied in the original release. Hence, I was slightly disappointed that this nice-to-have characteristic disappeared shortly after its introduction.

I have over time (as well as recently) reported several bugs and issues to Phase One and I am aware that they prioritize each, of course. That does not mean that users can't report or discuss minor issues. To the contrary, Phase One is determined to solve these too, balancing between effort and result. I noticed for example that the just released 6.1 has fixed some fairly minor issues as well.

I will drop a line with Phase One over this issue as well, raising the bar up to at least 2 reports. 😉

    My 2 cts.

As Ronald pointed this issue out to us some time ago we have reported it accordingly, I know as I originally took this case.
Ultimately the decision has been made to delete the contents within the folders that Capture One definitively creates but not the Folders, as these are made by the OS and thus begins a slippery slope of encroaching on what we should/should not delete.
It is understood that this is a bit of an annoyance and for that we apologize. However we would rather keep things safe and apologize for the annoyance then live dangerously and have to apologize for unintentional data loss.

I thought this was a good reason to not delete everything. Occasionally I will look over my Trashed files and decide to process some from there. This means the processed files are stored in a subfolder of the trash folder. Drew's statement above seems to leave room that the processed files would then be left alone. But not so. The files are also deleted when using the "Empty Trash" command (v5.1 Pro). I suppose since CO created the subfolder it was "definitively" created by CO and could be deleted. However I tested this by creating a test subfolder with files, and CO also deletes all of the files within it even though the test folder was not created by CO. So CO just deletes all files within the trash folder and recursively does the same for ANY subfolder, but does not delete the folders themselves.

    Hi everyone,

Thank you for your inputs. Just to verify that my mind wasn't playing tricks. I did the following:

I went over to the Software Archives from the download section of the PhaseONE site and I downloaded the 4.8.3 PRO, the only version there and I tested to see the existence of the "Empty Trash Folder Bug."

There was none. I tested on my Win 7 Professional 64-Bit.

Obviously some coding changes in version 5 and 6 is responsible for the bug.

Here is the screen recording of me showing 4.8.3 PRO. No bug there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocbT954Zwu0

To reiterate, this issue has been looked at and the decision to NOT delete the folders was a deliberate choice. This is not a bug. Regardless of what the function in 4.8.3 was, it's current state in 6 is by design.

    Hi Drew,

I am not trying to be difficult or incessant, I have been using C1 since 3.7.8 PRO and although my upgrades ran out at 5 PRO, I upgraded to 6 PRO. I'll lay low with my "Empty Trash Folder" bug report for now. I'll come and nudge your shoulders in the next update of C1 PRO should this bug still persists.

I'm one of those folks who never deletes any of my images on camera or on hard drive. It is not because I am a packrat who can't get rid of junk (and there is plenty of it), but it is so I can more easily track and notice if I have lost any images due to my error or hardware/software issue. This does cost $ due to hardrive space (primary and backup), but this has saved me on several occasions.

I would be OK (actually prefer) a system in place that if an image file was deleted that it replaced it with a 1kb file that served as a placeholder (perhaps the content of file could include date original deleted, by what software, etc.) For example if I deleted IMG_1245.CR2 it would create a file called IMG_1245deleted.txt

Again, this is not a bug. This will not change for the next update.
