Highlight clipping issue.

I've take a range of shots of Goldeneye ducks. I've noticed that C1,4 clips the detail out of the highlights. When i move the sliders i can see the detail, but when i stop the detail vanishes and i'm left witht he clipped whites? Why?? I've used other raw developers and i can reclaim these highlights, why not C1,4?


I'll post examples if people wish?

    Hi Hokum,
    It would be helpful if you could post some examples (curious about the Goldeneye ducks as well). Can you elaborate more on the sliders you have used in CO4? Have you used the highlight slider in the High Dynamic Range tool? Perhaps an example processed with another raw converter as well, you are more successful with?

    First the issue, the top part of the image is the other converters image. The bottom is the C1 4 image with max highlight recovery and -0.3 EV. When you slide the Highlight recovery slider, you can see the detail in it, then when you let go it just goes white!

    So as you may guess they are a nightmare to expose for!

    Not sure if I understand "When you slide the Highlight recovery slider, you can see the detail in it, then when you let go it just goes white!"? Do you mean you see recovery of highlights in the preview but not in JPEG after you have it processed?

    Did you use CO 4.0.1 already with refreshed preview files? There was a highlight issue resolved in 4.0.1. Worth to give it a try (if not done already). Camera model/type?

    Tip: use the URL tag not the Img tag for your web address to make it a link.

    By the way: the bird is beautiful!

    I mean as i move the slider, i can see the preview with the highlight detail but once i let go of the slider it just goes white.

    Yes, download 4.0.1 (4.0.1.14900) and try again.
