Perhaps you could give a fuller explanation....when you say you are clicking on "a color panel" and nothing happens...are you using Pro??

Are you using the skintone tool? Are you using a default skintone? Or are you selecting from the view pane...I'm seriously confused over what you are doing..

That said, using the skintone tool with defaults works very much like clicking a grey card....you can adjust a skintone and define it from the tool....or use the defaults. But only in Pro....

Using the Skin Tone Tool is a 3-step process.
First, select the skin tone you like to apply, for example Beige - Medium.
Second, select or activate the skin tone color picker. You find this either next to the skin tone selector or on top in the middle of the preview screen with all the cursor tools. Keyboard shortcut is "s".
Third, go into the image and click on the part that should be changed into the selected tone.

Just like the other poster mentioned, the working is similar to the white balance color picker. But instead of correcting towards a greycard value (R=G=B) you now correct towards a specific color value.

Note that you can create your own skin tones (which does not necessarily have to be tones of a skin, any color will do in theory, have not tried this at home yet) and apply that color at will. Hope this helps.

Same goes for the rest of the droppers too. And give a preview of the area which is being sampled.

Considered a feature request in a support case already?
