probably a corrupt database? Try importing in a new one. Skipping files occurs when the file is in the database but it is not visible in the browser for one reason or another. Had the same problem after a batch import of 10.000 files that went wrong and rendered the database unusable.

That makes sense. I just deleted the files and re-imported them from the backup hard drive. Durning my original import from the CF card, COP7 crashed about half way through the import. When I re-opened the program and started a new import from where it left off, it created two "recent imports" histories in the Library. I was trying put them all in one import history, but it wouldn't work.

I lost about a day's worth of editing in COP7 having to do this re-importing. Starting all over again now.

    Thanks for the response.

Do you have a Time Machine backup? or a system that a incremental clone of your drive at the end of the day? 😄

Hi Brian, yes I use Time Machine. In the future if this happens, is there a certain file I should restore?

OK SO EXACTLY WHAT DO I DO? Every time I try to import photos that are already on disk into my catalog I get the Events window with "Skipping file during import" listed several hundred times. This is making it useless to use this software. Please tell me how to fix this permanently. I understandably can't go around fixing databases every time I need to import. It needs to work as advertised. Thanks.

It is perhaps helpful to note that when you import, you should wait with hitting the import button in the dialog until Capture One has enumerated (counted) all images in the folder (and sub folder if applicable).

    Hi Paul,

Yes that is done. Once the import dialog box is showing all the images, I check/confirm the settings I want and then click "Import all files". It then resorts to "Skipping file during import" for all the images and nothing imports to the catalog. Just an empty folder when it says it's finished.

Maybe this needs to be changed in the software so that the Import action is not possible until all the files have been counted.

I have tried several imports of my image store (120000 images) I still havent succeeded in getting a good import without the import crashing at ~20000 images.
For serious use this really needs to be fixed urgently and also needs to be able to protect the import db more so it is not corrupted.

I guess the underlying database is SQLLite which is also used by other softwares (Lightroom, Bibble5/AfterShot Pro, etc..). This database needs to be improved or dropped for a more stable product.
Maybe there should be an option to allow users to use an external database of their choice (maybe need to limit to the big 5 databases - SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQLLite).
