A grace period from 30th October is in effect.
Contact support and they will validate your purchase for an upgrade.

Hello,
I also have the one-year subscription, which - I guess - means that I can just update my version for the newer one. However, when I downloaded the new version and typed in my license key, I got the error indication that I have already two computers using C1. That's true, but I'm trying to do update with one of them, so there shouldn't be a problem.
I'd be grateful for support, especially because I cannot find a phone number for the customer service whom I could ask.

Firstly I would suggest you create a Support Case to obtain an official response since that would be the favoured approach and it is unlikely that any of the users here, this being a User to User forum, would be certain of being able to offer complete advice.
That said you should be able to manage your activations my logging on to your Phase One account BUT whether you need a new licence key for V9 (probable I would think but I really have no idea....) is something you should be asking Phase.
I certainly cannot find anything obvious and informative on the web site.

As a subscriber you are paying for access to Capture One software, not a specific version. This is one of the the main advantage of a subscription model
Subscription model provides you access to the latest Capture One offering. Regardless of version.
A new version incurs no pay change for a subscriber. Simply download, activate and use.0 -

Thanks Drew, Normally, with other software, it installs the update, but with C1, it seems to make you install a paid upgrade, not recognising that you already have either the subscription or paid version. It's not the most helpful way to freely upgrade. 0 -

Capture One Downloads and Capture One License payment are completely separate. Other subscription software's will certainly automatically download updates for you. However, we don't feel this is a responsible model to require in a professional workflow. If you want to update your software, simply download and install, using your Key to activate. The Download section of the software provides a free download with no complication, again retaining separation from any payment plan as one is not necessarily tied to the other.0 -
Finally worked it out. The splash screen to inform me of v9 was just for info, but I had to go to the check for updates to start the download process. Unfortunately the activation limit has been reached. No idea what that means. 0 -

Terrific, I had upgraded the Capture One Pro 9 from 8 successfully as I am on subscription payment.
Download, install and activate with the license key. That's it without failure. =)0 -

Thank you for the link. It talks about new computers / hard drives etc, but both my PCs haven't changed in that respect, so I'm not sure. Is v8 seen as a separate version to v9, therefore, if I try and activate v9, your system rejects it as I have my maximum number of computers already registerd (as v8)?
I have removed v8 from my system prior to this.

Can't start 9 after install, must of have 25 lines of errors, uninstall 8 and 9 reload and stop the virus programs and still the same.
Win 10 , all my other programs are working fine.0 -

It was one step the V9 installation requested for my Win 7 system. I'm just wondering whether there may be some sort of anomaly connected to Windows 10 current update status when installing on Win 10.

This software have taken many man-years to develop, so I think the Oct 30th is a fair grace-date. You make money being a photographers, we make software. Both things requires a lot of effort to do, neither should be free.0 -

I have v8 and want to upgrde to v9 but I am not sure how to do so? When I get a new key# do I just open up cp1v8 and put the new key # that they send me in there or do I need to install cp1v9 and put it in there? 0 -

If you install alongside V8 you can run V9 in trial mode for 30 days to familiarise yourself before changing over (if you wish).
Your key for V9 will need to be applied at some point of course - you can do that my logging in to your account and activating. The V9 key will allow you to run earlier versions as well if you have them installed.
