Capture One Import Issues on Lion
Hello Phase team,
I am using Capture 6.2.2 on Lion and every time I open a project and try to import from my 5D MKII I get an error message and capture one quits. The application also shuts down on me if I DON'T import anything and just close the import window. This is happening on both my intel macs since my Lion update and upgrading to 6.2 and I have tried multiple cards.
I cannot import ANYTHING into my workflow and I have jobs on the go at the moment. To compound the problem the support problem logging url is asking which back I have and for its serial number and that is not my problem. I have submitted error logs through your software but I need help ASAP to get back up and running.

You don't need a back serial number to lodge a support case just leave it blank. What card reader are you trying? 0 -
Ben, the import issue is a known and acknowledged issue. See also other threads on Lion on this forum like here:

CO 6.2.2 is not supported on Lion. An update is pending. Do not use Lion if you depend on Capture One for your work until Phase One included support for the new OS X.0 -
Yeah unless you use the new mini or macbook air then you are better of reinstalling snow leo until 10.7.5 is released 😊 0 -

Drew - might you give us an update as to when we can expect an update to address the Lion compatibility import issue? We have several new iMacs with Lion and upgraded to Lion for our i7 MBP and MP as well. Very stable OS release for us thus far but timing has turned out to be bad for Capture One Pro.
I am guessing that some APIs need to be rewritten and the software recompiled - but why is it taking this long given a recognized import issue?0 -
As I scanned the forum a bit more it appears that there are more than just import issues. I know I can go back and reload SL but don't want to have different operating systems on different computers due to software compatibility.
Some official word from PhaseOne as to the status of updates would be helpful.0 -

We're working on it. Unfortunately we do not have an ETA at present. In regard to addressing the import issues, we aren't going to release a new version JUST to address this issue. That has been identified and addressed, we are still testing and fixing other issues to ensure full compatibility with Lion. The release will be available ASAP.0 -
Drew - haven't seen how the import issue has been addressed - at least not based on this thread - other than don't use Lion. The release of Lion was not a surprise and I believe that it is a reasonable request to have some ETA from PhaseOne / couple of weeks or a month or two months or...
I am brand new to CP1 - paid my $400 - and still don't have a properly functioning product. The tone of your response, at least to me, is like you are annoyed - if anyone should be annoyed it is the CUSTOMERS.0 -

It was not mentioned, yet - - 'cause some people depend on imports - - at least with the cameras I use, a direct import from Camera or chip works always, means drag & drop to the HD. So, this issue may be annoying, but it would not kill your jobs. (Some even use Adobe Bridge for that 😉 )
This problem may show that phasenone is a pro-grade company, where stability and late adoption of new releases is in the interest of most customers;
besides, used the new MBAir on travel, was very satisfied, though the import-glitch took me a few hours of watching the beachball without anything but massive pageouts; so drag&drop was the way to get things done.

I'm sorry if that response was read with any tone to that nature, it was certainly not intended to be read that way. In regard to an ETA, we DO NOT provide them under any circumstances as something could change at a moments notice only to further disappoint customers. I can say, however, that it will be available VERY VERY SOON.
In the future, to avoid issues like the one you described, I would simply suggest you read the release notes of the software to make sure there is compatibility.0 -
YEAH, There is a 6.3 version that has just went live. I can't see the release notes but I am hopeful!

I use OS 10.5.8 and have never had a problem with Capture One updates.... until this latest release. Even with 10.5.8 it crashes or will freeze up when trying to import images from CF card. I stepped back to C1 V6.2.1 and everything is fine. I also think those who update system software within minutes of it's release are really taking a chance and not using the best judgment. I mean really, what benefit are you getting with Lion that can't wait a month for the bugs to be ironed out or the developers having a chance to catch up with the new code? 0 -

You'd be best served creating a new thread, the issue you reported is not related to Lion so it's not the best place for this concern.
In regard to your issue however, as 6.3 primarily addressed Lion support there may be no need for you to update in 10.5.8 and you can revert to 6.2.2 to see if the issue is elevated.0 -
Related but a slightly different problem advice appreciated.
My copy of capture one 6 works fine with Lion except on 2 specific points.
You cannot sort the files via size view-sort-size although all other options to view are working fine and
you cannot add a new file via the new album button, although you can add a new album.
Is anyone else having these problems and can advice how to navigate this, short of just not using those options?

Please create a new thread, the title of the thread here will result in a lot of people overlooking your concerns. It would be best if you provided more details about the system (hardware? OS?) and Software Version (specifically) on a new thread.0
