Why do you want Media Pro to integrate with C1 catalogues?
Having ended my 30 day trial of MP and bought it, I remain a little puzzled by the complaints about Media Pro not integrating with C1 catalogues and wonder why people want two cataloguing programs?
I worked on the assumption that Media Pro would allow me to replace the C1 catalogues and start using a proper DAM, with C1 simply acting as an editor for Media Pro.
Setting up a "dummy" session just for editing seems to work fine, nothing seems to be saved within the session files, so its only a mechanism to give access to the C1 editing tools.
I have Media Pro on one screen and the C1 session open on another.I can open an image in C1 from Media pro, and after editing , pressing Ctrlr B in Media Pro redraws the preview in Media Pro to match the edits and crops I have just made in C1. I have been changing ratings etc directly in Media Pro (or sometimes in Photo Mechanic and then syncing with Media Pro)
I am still sorting out the nuances of this, but so far it seems to work fairly well, and I can't actually see why I would want to use C1 catalogues now that I have Media Pro. Especially, given how blazingly fast Media Pro is.
But, as I have only just got to the point of beginning to work properly with this set up, maybe I am missing the obvious.
Maybe there is an issue importing C1 catalogues into Media Pro, this wasn't an issue for me as all my metadata was in XMP sidecar files. Or something that I can't think of.
So before I continue sorting out the fine detail of my Media Pro/C1 workflow, it would be useful to hear why other people still seem to be using C1 catalogues and "proper" sessions, rather than just using a dummy session to give Media Pro access to the C1 editing tools, and moving all the cataloguing and organisation into Media Pro.

this is my experience " Media Pro works only with session folder"
because :
Media Pro is a cataloging Program its concept works to look inside folder every wear CD , USB, HD and
Manage them inside a small building Catalog,
this can't bee works with another created Catalog "DB"
thats don't mache the workflow !
for Example:
Lightroom Catalog <-----> don't works with MP Catalog
Apple FOTO Catalog <-----> don't works with MP Catalog.
Apeture Catalog <--------> don't works with MP catalog.
CAPTURE one pro Catalog <.........> don't works with MP catalog.
the Method CATALOG <-to --> CATALOG never works..
only the Method CATALOG to Recourse like Folder, USB,CD. works .

I'm not sure I follow the points you are making about the catalogues, as Media Pro does offer a facility to import from catalogues, I just can't find anywhere that tells you what catalogues it will import from.
(edit: it seems as if the only catalogues media pro will import are other Media Pro catalogues, so that is potentially a major problem moving from a C1 catalogue to a Media pro catalogue, maybe someone can confirm this)
What I mean by a dummy session is to create a session called anything you like e.g. "MediaProSession" but instead of using it like a session and importing files into the capture folder, just leave it as it is.
You can then send images from Media Pro to that session, where they then appear allowing you to edit them, but they are not saved within the session, the session only serves as a pathway to C1 editing tools.

Thanks, this is part of the series of videos made when C1 started selling Media Pro, and it would be nice to think that some things might have improved since then.
I would have thought that being able to import C1 catalogues into Media Pro would have been one of the first things that Phase would have done. But it doesn't look as if they have.

Your workflow is pretty much what I've been doing for a decade or more. 😄- Image Browser/Downloader > Raw Converter > Catalogue app
This three pronged approach was necessary in the early days of the raw workflow. It has the benefit of choosing the best application for that part of the process, or replace if one goes away, or choose different raw converters for different jobs. So you could have:- Breeze Browser+Downloader Pro > Capture One > IMatch
- ImageIngester > Bridge/ACR > iView Media Pro
- Photo Mechanic > Nikon Capture > FotoStation
There wasn't one app that did it all, until Aperture. That changed the landscape of DAM for photographers and defined what people want: simplicity. If Phase One can get the Capture One DAM features on par with Media Pro, or even just work with large numbers of images, then sadly Media Pro will go away - IMHO.0 -

I am going
Photo Mechanic -> Media Pro -> Capture One -> Media Pro
I am culling in Photo mechanic, and then cataloguing everything in Media Pro.
I then manage everything in Media Pro and send individual files to an "empty" session in C1 (or it could be Photoshop, Nikon Capture etc) for editing.
Then any final images created by C1 are catalogued back in Media pro (which will be a different catalogue to the one cataloguing the raws).
As I have said elsewhere, the only weird issue I am having with this, is that sometimes when I send a file to C1 from Media pro, only the single file (or selected files) opens in C1 and sometimes its all the files that share the same system folder. I obviously only want the selected files to open.
But it still avoids storing anything in a C1 catalogue or in session folders, and keeps everything under the management of Media Pro.

Sorry for the confusion, I meant using multiple apps not just one.
I keep a Media Pro catalog as insurance and want the option of other raw converters (that support DNG) in case Adobe decide to follow the Apple business model. Don't tell anyone...personally I'm using Photo Mechanic > Lightroom.

Ah, I see (I think). Until recently I haven't had Photoshop, and have never liked Lightroom, even though its been at the centre of my post processing since V1, I have avoided the DNG approach.
