Slow import from CF card

A couple of days ago I bought a couple of Sandisk Extreme CF IV 2GB card and the matching firewire reader. It's supposed to be 2-3 times faster than my old CF III/usb reader combination. And it is. But not when importing with Capture One (3.7.8). It takes 3.4 minutes to import through Capture One and 1.2 to just copy the picture folder from card to desktop.
What's the reason for this delay? Can it be improved? When your shooting 20-30 cards per photoshoot 2 more minutes for each card is a drag.
