Nikon D 800 compatability
I am interested in purchasing the new Nikon D800 and wanted to see if anyone has had any issues yet in using with the Capture One software.

Adding to the OP's question; I'd also like to hear about what controls will be available for the D800 platform. If there are any processing differences between the D800 and D800E
If video can be captured straight to computer using HDMI cable, and what hardware software configuration is required.
Please also confirm what legacy of C1P will be compatible with this new Nikon.

Great questions. Please open a support case and address your requests directly to Phase One as well for proper logging of your concerns. 0 -

Wouldn't be more informative for your clientele to post the information requested here in the forum? I usually look here first when I have a pressing question.
I have submitted a request for support per your suggestion0 -

We're not Paul's clientele, Lionel - he doesn't work for Phase One, he's a user, just like us.0 -
Apologies, with respect.

Oh, nothing to apologise for, Lionel - I mention it simply to help manage your expectations. 0 -
Is there a single place where we can find out for each version of CP which cameras RAW output are supported.
I am currently running CP v6.3.3
AFAIK to get RAW support for the D800 will require us to take an upgrade to the CapturePro installation.0 -

At any point in time, this page provides the Release Notes - including a list of supported cameras - for the current version of the software.0 -
Thanks Keith.
Release notes downloaded.
In fact I think there is a mistake in the release notes.....
It says preliminary support for Fuji X10 is in CP v.6.3.3 but in fact they have also added support for Fuji X100 as well.
***EDIT*** My mistake they added support for X100 in version 6.3.0.0 -
Ah - maybe the next point release, then... 0 -
Well if you were to believe this video
http://vimeo.com/38009435
you would assume that the d800 was supported by Capture One back in 20110 -

Having been a loyal Capture One Pro user since V3.5, (P25) would like to continue using C1 Pro.... 😊
Are we as paying customers able to get, even a rough guestimate as to when Capture One Pro will have usability for both
D800 and D4..... the cameras are here, just no useable software.... 😊)) I would rather not have to look for an alternative.
Any advice/insight would be greatly appreciated.0 -
Id bet that there are developers working on this as we speak/write. The Nikon D4 and D800 will be major cameras in the pro tool set. PhaseOne have also just offered a hefty price reduction for their RAW processing products so they are looking to attract rather than dissuade new purchasers so I'd say watch here actively.
BTW... I have no inside knowledge.0 -

Yep, we have the cameras in house and are hard at work! However we can not offer any public estimate on when a release will come.0 -
Thanks, I've been checking this thread daily for an update. I do the majority of my catalog work tethered with your software and I'm currently going through withdrawals. 😂 0 -

Soon 😉
I realize that answer may not be what you want and if we could offer you firm dates we would, it's that simple. However we aren't going to provide timelines that could change should a bug be found, a programer take sick or a camera not be delivered to us in a timely manner... that would only disappoint further.
We're working on it, please be patient.0 -
Hey Drew,
I did say a "guestimate" & it's great to hear that you guys are working on it...... 😄0 -

Note that tethered support might take longer and not always become available in the same release that brings raw file support for a new DSLR (doing some expectation management here 😉 )0 -
I completely understand. Looks like I need to start thinking about other options for now. [quote="Paul_E" wrote:

It seems like this could have been anticipated and a release of a D800 update could have been coordinated to be available when the camera is in the hands of people using it. As it is, I'm forced to load dreaded Nikon software to get by. It's not like the release of the camera was a secret, nor was the release date. 0 -

Just because a camera is announced with shipping dates does not mean that pre-release versions are available. Also prerelease cameras are usually terrible to use for developing support because color often changes significantly in the shipping version. Case in point a few years ago we were able to get a prerelease of the 5D MKII. Low and behold the color profiling of the initial support for the camera in Capture one was rather green because the final shipping version was different.
When it comes to new technology the rule of thumb is always early adopters beware.0 -
I think our complaining is a testament to how much we love your product. For me personally, I won't touch another RAW converter. It just isn't the same. I'm impatiently sitting on some catalog work waiting for the release. 😂 [quote="Jon" wrote:

I recently switched to C1, I'm using it to process my 16 bit tiff exported from Phocus for my blad files, result are amazing!! I then converted my complete workflow for my D3 & D700 switching from CR & Lightroom. Again amazing results!! I just got a D800 and I'm forced to go back to my old ways. So I'm now doing 16 bit tiff exports in Lightroom /CR and reprocessing in C1.... Can't wait to get support for D800... Any idea when that might come about?? 😁 0 -
I've been having to do a workaround in the meantime using the DNG converter. Good grief the files look awful. ACR looks bad as well. No other raw converter has the RAWs looking close to how it was shot. I'd rather waiting longer for the Phase One developers to get it right than to use the crap that is out there. 0 -

Adobe have 'sold' (given it away free) a complete pup as being some panacea but in reality it is not very good.
I'll wait for the real thing from Capture Pro 6.x.x0 -

why not use the Nikon software if you want to start using the D800? I just completed a catalog shoot day with the D800 and had fewer hang-ups with that than I normally do using the D3X and C1. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of C1 but it allowed me to establish a professional workflow with this new camera to please my client. Isn't that what we are all seeking? Frankly, C1 allowing me to fire a tethered camera without recording any images during a lock-up or disconnect is troubling. You lose frames this way and that seems to me to be a cardinal sin. Hopefully addressed in forthcoming version.0 -

Have you raised a support case?
Won't get fixed if it isn't formally reported...0 -
Most of Nikon software is garbage. Camera Control Pro is great however the viewer and Capture NX is terrible. I don't know what your computer setup is but on a Macbook Pro with 8GB of RAM with a SSD for the system drive, I haven't had it lockup on me yet. [quote="NNN634256046442270496" wrote:
