None of my controls work
I replaced my old computer with a new one ( Win 7) and installed Capture One Pro. I rearranged the desktop a little and converted a couple of raw files to see how it work. All seemed well. It was properly activated. Now I settled down to do a little work and I see that all of the adjustment controls are greyed out. I cannot make any adjustments. Anybody have a clue what this could be? Or better yet, how to fix it?
PS - I just went back and took a second look and there is a small icon - like an eye, in the lower right of all my thumbnails. I suspect that has something to do with this. I've never seen it before. ??

Mike,
Sounds like a similar problem what I've had. See my post "Problem with files on a non C:-drive" a few days ago.
What I have done is to grant full control permission to all the files for the current user, and all was o.k. after. You can do that for an entire folder, but include subfolders and files.
If it does not help, check the read-only flag as well, as it was proposed by Paul.
Hope it helps, best regards

The eye-like icon is a read-only symbol. Cause can be a permission issue or you accidently activated Capture One as DB (data back). In this mode it only processes DB files. Check the Help, About.0 -
It was a file permission issue related to Windows 7. I've got it figured out now but it seems to me that Microsoft could have made the while 'permissions' thing a lot less complicated. 0 -
Hey,
I have this same problem with the trial version of Capture one on XP SP3.
All settings are greyed out, and the thumbs have the eye icon...
My files are not read only. My folders' readonly property (on c:\ or d:\) have the "square" value (not ticked, not unticked but the 3rd state, as if it was containing files that are read only and some that aren't).
Forcing the read only property of the folder to unticked causes windows to ask if I want to apply the changes to all files and subfolders etc... in the end the read only property of the folder stays on the "square" value.
(I'm not sure if that's normal but I don't have another XP available now to check if it's the normal behaviour.)
In the end Capture one, always show the eye, and all settings are disabled...
The folder security stuff is a bit complicated but basicall all group or user names have full access on those folders (admin, me, users of my computer, and SYSTEM) apart from the user CREATOR OWNER...
It's pretty weird cause I'm testing a bunch of RAW converter software and I've never had this problem before...
Mike311, can I ask you how you sorted your problem on 7?0 -

Two main causes as you might have read from previous post in this thread. Cause one is that you accidently activated the trial in DB mode, which can only edit Phase One back files but show all type of raw files. Cause two is the permission problem.
Check the DB mode first. When you start the application, do you get a Welcome/License screen first (try/activate button)? If not, you are in DB mode. Deactivate from the program's Help menu, License Information, and start it again. Now select either Capture One/Capture One Pro for trial.0 -
Thanks a lot.
I did read about the db mode and looked in help\about and obviously didnt find anything there.
I was in the Digital Back mode only, followed your instructions and now the settings are all available.

Are you asking how to Activate?
Simply input your Product Key in the Activation Window. You receive the activation option each time you launch the software.0 -
right. managed to activate it but it's only a trial status. how can i convert it to a permanent one? i did what you suggested and after putting the activation key a notice will appear that says " this registration no. has no extension an available".

If the software is in the Trial Mode then it is NOT activated.
If you put in your Product Key and are prompted with that message it would indicate your Product Key needs to be upgraded to activate Capture One 5. Please visit the E-Shop to purchase the upgrade.
