30,000 pixel limit?
Is there a pixel dimension limit in Media Pro and EM2?
I have a tif over 30,000 pixels in width that will not render a thumbnail or preview. Preview says" No importer found for media file".

Had the same problem on my old Win-XP machine until I installed the latest WIC (Windows Imaging Component).
Not a problem on Win7-64. Don't know about the MAC-world.
A workaround that only sometimes worked was to save the file as PSD (that creates an embedded preview), then delete the TIF and save that PSD again as TIF and re-import (not rebuild) with the option to render image previews checked (in Preferences).
Seems as Apple Quicktime was (still is?) not able to overcome the 30000 pixel limit. EM1 for sure used Quicktime. Not sure about later versions. Anyhow WIC solved the issue for me.
Once I was told it's a limitation of the TIF format, but was not able to verify this.
Good luck.0
