Settings lost after processing

CO 4 saves settings automatically, they should not be lost. I try to figure out how this can occur but have no idea. Maybe a description of your actions does gives us (me?) a clue. Some questions come up like disk (internal/external), camera (does it occur with other camera's files), tether (yes/no), settings previously saved (close CO, opened again; settings retained?).

You could try to update to CO 4.6 (4.6.1 is the latest). Maybe it helps.

I shoot an image "A" in folder "A" with Canon 1Ds Mark III tethered. I make adjustments to image "A" (color balance, rating, levels, etc.,) then I process image "A". If I then view image "B" in folder "B" then come back to the folder for image "A" all settings are gone. This only happens if an image has been processed. I have no problems with retaining settings when switching between folders otherwise.

Clear description. Because CO 4.x/Mac writes the settings to file when you change folder (at least that is what I recently figured out) I wandered what would happen if you switch folder forth and back (from A to B back to A) and than process image A in folder A, go to B, revert to A. Just curious and being suspicious about the combination of tethering, adjusting and processing BEFORE the adjustments are stored.

Storing of adjustments in a settings file can be monitored when you view the Settings45 subfolder of the image file's folder.

Currently I don't have a camera that is supported for tethering (only a 5D MkII) otherwise I would have tried it out already. Update to CO 4.6 is recommended anyway (very stable compared to 4.5.2).

Thanks, I'll try the 4.6 update. Perhaps the added stability will help.

I had these same issues. I updated as well. Phase one really didn't have an answer other tan pull out all the software and start a new user. When I updated I noticed in their user manual that there ws a description on how to set sessions (pg 46-47?). If you set the session to relative you will have no more issues. At least I didn't!

Thanks for the information Shawn2. I found the description of 'relative' versus 'absolute' to session confusing in the manual. I initially could not find it. Now I did: Library Tool tab, below: Info (click to open). When session folders are selected in the library, the Info tool below shows whether the session folder is absolute or relative to the session.
